Trying to backup an XP system

I brought home my sister's dorm machine, so I can back up all her stuff. But I can't network because I dont have an extra monitor or keyboard. So I pull the hard drive out, put it in my system. But when I try to access the files I get a message along the lines of "You do not have permission to access this folder" or "Access denied"

How do I find a way around this?

In my futile attempts, I tried to make an account on my system, with her user name and password -but I still didnt have access to her files.

Put your drive (that you want to back up to) into her system and do it that way, XP will want to be reactivated even if you get it to run in your system, but adding your drive to her system should work fine (no activation and no hassles).
