My goal is to buy a 165 opteron and try to do what everyone else is doing, reach around 2.5ghz with a simple OC. Currently I have a socket a system overclocked to 2.4, I was wondering what i should keep out of my old system, if anything, and what i should buy new.

ThermalTake 480w PSU silent pure-power

OCZ value VX 3200 200fsb 2-2-2-6 2T @ 2.95v (bh5 chips) could do better with more voltage

the other parts i'm pretty sure i'd end up selling so if you're interested let me know

AMD 2600xp-mobile @ 2.4 1.65v
ATI radeon 9800XT 256mb
Thermalright SLK947u
Abit NF7-S v1 w/ CoolerMaster NB

Any advice or recommendations on parts is welcomed :)

i'm a bit worried about the FSB my ram can put out , supposedly it can hit 250 with decent timings if it has about 3.2 volts running through it , any recommendations on a motherboard that can do 3.0v+

i think dfi can....not sure though. If you don't game at very high resolutions and/or with the highest settings. You could probably continue using the 9800XT depending if you play latest games or not

except most 939 mb have pcix not agp
o and dfi lanparty boards can do 4v but you might have to f with the ps rails to gain some volts on 3.3 rail
