Niece has a system I built 3 years ago for her- Abit MB quit, installed an ECS K7S5A yesterday- I get 8 fast beeps- no vid signal. Using an old NVIDIA tnt 8 mg card ( XP was running it fine before with the old board).
Does not get vsnyc with this card. Tried it in my system, fine ( see sig). Installed my card in her system ( ATI 8500) works fine.
Does anyone think I maybe am running into the old " must have newer vid card with proper voltage" scenario?? There is NO mention of this requirement in the ECS documentation, or on their website.
ALSO, if this IS the case, what is the lowest- end card I can get away with for this newer spec? ( since I am footing the bill, and she doesn't game much at all?)
EDIT- Tried making sure the card was seated ok, same thing. Decided to go back to troubleshooting 101, and pulled out the modem and sounds cards- BOOTED FINE? Added sound card- AOK, added modem- 8 beeps and no vsync??
Luckily she went to a cable modem, and no longer need the generic modem that was originally in there. Just when you though you knew something...
