my guess is that you are paying off the sleazy and crooked hotel owner who has installed hidden cameras in the rooms blackmail money so that the tape he has of you and that chicken doesnt get out...

He never once said you actually pay someone working AT the hotel money. All that was said was you pull up to a hotel and pay THE person a sum of money.

Perhaps getting your bags taken out or something like that.
