<< Curious who the democrats would put up against Bush next election? In the last election when Bush was depicted as a dolt, you put your best and brightest-Gore and he lost. Whether you admit the loss or not you CAN'T deny the democrats best and brightest against the republican depicted as a dolt, the election was 50/50. Next election Bush WON'T be the underdog...can you say landslide! >>
I think it will be another case of picking the lesser of two evils. In 2000, it was Bush (the idiot) and Gore (the liar). That turned out to be a toss up, which Bush eeked out a victory. The next election, we'll see Bush depicted as something else (depending on what negative the media wants to portray) and whichever democrat they can dig up to go against him. I think if the media tries to show Bush as an idiot again, it will end up in a landslide as you say, because I believe the majority of Americans actually are happy with the way Bush has handled himself to this point and don't consider him a complete fool. Of course, there's still time for him to totally screw something up and hand the democrats the election.
As far as Gore, I would hardly call him the best and brightest. He was the most well-known, but there were plenty of people in the democratic party who didn't want him as the candidate (including me) because of his association with the corruption in the Clinton administration and his BORING personality. In the last election I ended up voting for Gore because I didn't think Bush would be able to tie his shoes without Cheney showing him how (and yes it appears I was wrong as amazing as that is to me). Of course, my first choice was McCain, but the foolish republicans shot him down in the primary. There are several democrats who will probably be in the hunt for the nomination, but none have yet shown the ability to give Bush a serious run. Of course, it's a long way to go to the election and things tend to change alot in that amount of time.
