Trusted Computer on Domain

Hey guys,

I was going to restore a system I had using Norton Ghost. I have a Win 2000 system on a Domain. I wanted to restore the system back to its pre-Upgrade state(Win Nt4).

The problem I am having is getting the computer back as a "Trusted" computer on a Domain. I think this has something to do with Unique IDs that are put on the systems. Should I talk to the IT guys before I do the restore? What should I tell them I need done?

Thanks

Ghost makes an exact copy of your HD so I don't see why you should have issues.
May be a good idea to remove your computer account from the domain.

I'm not sure, but if you upgrade an NT4 computer to win2k, don't the identifiers change? I'd think GUID would be different after upgarding. This is reflected in teh computer account on the domain. If you go back to NT4, the guid will be the previous one, which the domain controllers will not have an account for. If the IT guys are ok with you ghosting the computer to your NT4 image, then just ask them to create a new computer account for you.

You should be able to restore the image, move the computer to a workgroup (reboot), then rejoin the domain. That should be all there is to it.

If you don't have permissions to add a computer account to the domain you'll need the help of the IT staff.
