Except the unite the right rally was actually put on by Nazis.

In case you weren't aware, the good people of Charlottesville voted to move the statue. The white power movement decided to have a march opposing moving the statue, because apparently they don't believe towns should be left to make these decisions themselves.

Counter protesters showed up as well, because what red blooded American wouldn't oppose white nationalists clothed in Nazi attire and chanting Nazi slogans.

Religion can be used as a tool to control people. It's been done for thousands of years and still is today. It doesn't have to be religion in the traditional sense of the word.
