Exactly, there is no reason to compare the federal budget situation and economy at the same point in each president's term, at least in nominal terms as you are attempting to do. I don't know how ignorant, stupid, or dishonest someone would have to be to want to do something that dumb.

If you're doing comparisons in nominal terms then you want to compare the two years closest to one another. This is basic logic and common sense.

Trump came in, deficits increased, but at a rate less than this time in Obama's presidency, the economy is growing. There is nothing evaluating them in this way, you just want to steer things the direction that look good for your incorrect arguments. Deflect! Deflect!

This is untrue. Deficits decreased under Obama, not increased. The big jump in deficit happened in FY2009, which was a Bush budget year.

This is exactly what counter-cyclical fiscal policy is all about. We had a huge demand hole in 2009-2011 that federal deficits helped fill, mitigating the effects of the financial crisis. We don't have a demand hole now, Trump is just pissing money away on the military and tax cuts for rich people. It's really stupid.

no, no he didn't. not yet, at least. obama left office with 19.947 trillion in debt accumulated through all our history. of that, 13.171 (understated because i'm using a monthly compound) was inherited. so that's ~6.8 trillion. average interest rates over the last few years since obama left office have been under 3%. so, that puts obama at about 7.2 trillion in added debt. give it another decade and it'll be approaching 10 trillion.
