Trumps core numbers are now up and show front runner

Saw this response in the comments on the article. I think they're dead spot on.

"This country is in sorry shape when there's Hillary "amoral megalomaniac" Clinton, Bernie "Santa Claus" Sanders, and Donald "pompous blowhard" Trump polling highest and leading an historically abysmal, inept, and unqualified field of candidates in the coming election. Buckle down for a next president who either usurp and circumvent the office (Clinton), wreck it (Sanders), or demean it (Trump). I think we've seen enough of what the 1853-present ruling duopoly of two well-financed parties has for us and a precondition for actually reforming our political mess is to have the 43% independent share of the electorate attain a majority and speed the day when 3-5 viable parties dissipate the controlling influence of wealth and privilege that uses the two-party system as a tool for their amusement. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the 1% have seen their share of national wealth increase from 38% to 44.5% under the current administration, a continuing trend so long as they control the political process through their bought and paid for legislators."

He is the most serious of the Republican candidates.

Could you imagine that the day he stuffed himself into that clown car that's still wandering around, lost in the Forest of Teatards?

He represents the horrid state of affairs the Repub Party is in. If there were any Repub candidates that could have represented a credible threat to Hillary, they would have already stood out and the Repub base and the wealthy betting on this horse race of nags would have already clearly indicated their choice(es).

Stupid comment is stupid. It's a thinly-veiled Ron Paul endorsement.

The sad thing is that when Trump announced, the IQ of the Republican field increased 😀
We know that Trump is at least aware of other countries and how they do things. And he does not accept Republican dogma hook line and sinker and thinks for himself.

Where did you get that? I don't see that at all.

The fact of the matter is the way the election system is currently set up there really aren't other options due to the money funneled in.

I guess it would be an independent, as an only other option atm, but even then he would not be what would pull if off.

To be a successful President in 2016 all one needs is the strength to enforce existing laws already on the book. This is quite the coincidence, being as the President's main job is of chief executive, separate from the legislative or judicial branches.

Bonus points would be received for prosecuting obstensive corruption and reversing some of the more egregious laws - including illegal trade deals - of the last fifteen years. Let's get to work.

No Ron Paul in that post, you read what you wanted to read and put words into the mouth of the author

Nixon, great guy.. solid record.

Actually Nixon said leaving the gold standard was supposed to be temporary. Also we don't actually have a true fiat system. After Kissinger made the Aramco deal in 1973 to back the US dollar with Saudi oil, all of OPEC followed suit in 1975. So we still have a commodity backed currency, although instead of stateside gold safes we have military bases in the Middle East.

Aside from the bodies of young that have to be sacrificed once in a while, you could argue the oil standard actually surpasses the gold standard. There's no way the US could maintain a global empire like we do today with the economics of the 1960s. You couldn't possibly ship 90% of your manufacturing overseas and still be a world power under the gold standard. The gold standard would still require some honest settlement in trade.

Donald Trump has experienced a major shift in one of the most significant predictors of electoral success

Honestly this was his weakness, getting others to see him as a real contender. If this holds up he may have a real good chance. Still a long time from the first votes but still... 😕

Bbbbbbbbbbbut, hysterical liberals insisted he was a racist!!!!!!!!!!!! That's supposed to make everyone else shut up and fall in line. Why isn't this brilliant plan working this time???!!!!! Mommy, why won't the bad man go away... ROFL

Hint: It's not liberals who are polling for him...🙄

You need to share what you're smoking.

You need to share what you're smoking.

I wouldn't. Look what it did to him; he thinks Trump's racist prick tendencies are just a product of "hysterical" liberals, not a continuing train wreck of PR that is still happening.

That's sounds less like a good time and more like a bad trip to me. Just say No jones!

Which is really sad when you think about it. Donald would probably be a shit leader because he comes across as one of those guys who refuses to negotiate or change his mind. He'll go to war before he'll ever admit he was wrong on anything.

This is extremely misleading. Nixon didn't choose fiat money. He was forced by the market. Other countries realized we were printing way more money than there was gold to support that money, so they started exchanging their dollars for gold at the agreed $35/oz rate. One could call it an international run on the bank. Gold was leaving the country at an alarming rate. He could either flip to fiat money immediately and keep America's gold (and screw America's creditors), or he could wait until all of the gold was gone and then flip to fiat money. He probably made the right choice. At least we still have our gold. Think of it as a form of defaulting on debts. Nixon basically said "Yeah, we're not paying back the gold we owe you. Better luck next time, suckers!"
I keep saying Greece should do that right now to the ECB and IMF. Just flat out refuse to pay back any of their debts. Write the entire thing off and screw the bond holders. Who would be the victims? People stupid enough to lend money to Greece?
