Like changing the rules for filibustering? That's going to bite them in the ass...
What the hell does that have to do with anything? More nonsensical ranting.

Regardless, I'm a big fan of that change as the filibuster was destroying our ability to govern ourselves. I hope the Republicans eliminate it entirely.
Yup, I hope the GOP eliminates it, too, though probably for different reasons. That's the difference between us and hacks like you Kaz. We want good policy whether it hurts "our team" or not.

They should leave it in place till they lose the majority, pass the change in a lame duck session.

Nope. Nuke it now. I don't want Democrats getting in the way of any GOP policy. The people have spoken. Give them what they want.

It's both good policy and smart politics. What people seem to forget about the elimination of the filibuster is the circumstances it happened under: remember the whole original 'nuclear option' debate when GWB was president? Both parties came together and made a deal where filibusters against appointments would only be made in 'extraordinary circumstances' in exchange for the majority (then Republicans) not eliminating it. What happened when the Democrats took control of the Senate and the presidency? Massive filibustering of appointments, everywhere. The Republicans made a deal and then immediately broke it as soon as it was no longer convenient. If the other party doesn't adhere to your agreement, the agreement is worthless.

So not only is the filibuster bad as it was an additional undemocratic step in an already deeply undemocratic institution, it was one that was being abused primarily by one side. Much better to be rid of it forever. Go Go Republicans! Eliminate that filibuster!

I just want to watch the rust belt waiting patiently for the next 4 years for Saint Trump to bring all their jobs back and don't want the GOP to be able to blame Democrats for "stopping" them.

It's foolish to underestimate the opposition, particularly when they're Republicans. They'll lock down control of the govt in the hands of the right wing plutocracy for decades given the opportunity. Ending the filibuster entirely is just such an opportunity.

Good. I'm done feeling sorry for people who vote against their own self-interests and/or are too stupid to figure out when a scandal is based on smoke and mirrors.

It's interesting/sad to see news reports coming out of places like Kentucky where people are saying 'yeah I voted for Trump but they aren't REALLY going to take away my Obamacare, are they?'.

It's like those Brexit voters who didn't think they were actually going to leave the EU when they voted for leaving.

There's just one catch- it hurts us all. None but the wealthiest are immune.

Fuck em. I'm done. I fought the good fight against these shitheads even though I gain no benefit for it. I'll be fine. I'm white. I'm not a Muslim. Both my wife and I make good money. If anything, a Clinton presidency might have raised my taxes a little and Trump's might cut my taxes a little. We don't need abortion services. I'm not religious so I don't care if religious freedom gets trampled. I'm done fighting misinformation. I'm just going to laugh and throw more fuel on the fire.

I totally understand the feeling of not wanting to save people from the consequences of their own electoral stupidity but think about it this way: there are large numbers of people in those states, white, black, hispanic, whatever, that not only didn't vote for Trump but positively despise him. When you say 'fuck you' to the dummies who were stupid enough to vote for Trump you're also saying 'fuck you' to the people who voted for Clinton, or the people who couldn't vote because of voter suppression, or are too young to vote. They never asked for this.

I'm hoping the Republicans keep the present rules against the filibuster or possibly expand them until they pick up 60 votes in 2018. Then they can change them back and require a 60 vote majority in the future. Seems like a good way to go.

I know they didn't, and I feel bad for them, but I can't save them from conservative stupidity. If they want to blame someone they can blame their friends who could have voted for Clinton but didn't, either because they didn't care or because they were stupid enough to believe the lies about her. This is on those people. I did my part. I did more than my part. Every story I hear about a Trump supporter or a Clinton hater getting fucked will cause me to laugh and laugh.

Agreed. I think that Trump & the Repubs will succeed in breaking the system. They can't help themselves. Our job is to limit the damage & to make sure it's not permanent. Blue states need to meet the challenge, step up to take care of our own. It is what it is.

All you'll succeed in doing is giving the GOP opportunity to blame any and all disaster that comes on Democrat obstruction, leading to more Democrat losses in 2018 and 2020. Get the fuck out of the way and let the GOP hoist themselves on their own petard.

Of course the recount didnt change anything.

When you surpress voters with obtuse voter ID laws, you prevent them from casting a vote.

Recounts can't fix voter suppression.
