Trump wasn’t always so linguistically challenged. What could explain the change?

Maybe I'm missing something here but, so what? Your present govt. is flushing your country down the toilet (and fucking with the world at large) and folks want to analyze the possible deterioration of Trump's brain functions/speech issues?

You don't think the mental state of the POTUS is an important issue? You've got to be kidding me.

It's clearly no concern to him. Now let's take a peek into Victorian Gray's gray matter shall we?

"This is all very interesting...not! But can we get back to hating Trump now? I've got a 3 o'clock and I don't want to be late. Also my ego's validation fix is in need of recharging." -Victorian Gray probably

No no no no no no NO! *Stamps feet* You people don't understand! All this talk of dementia is getting in the way of my hating Trump! You're making him seem like a victim and worst of all you are HUMANIZING HIM! How DARE YOU!

It's only an ACT I swear! I know because I've seen plenty of pixels in my time and I have a non-photoshopped diploma like that guy Sigmund Freud had framed and hanging on my wall in my basem...I mean office. It's really not photoshopped though and my name is on it now. I mean it always had my name on it.

Anyway can we get back to hating Trump now? He's evil not sick! Now I'll pass around the pitchforks and torches, only one to a person people, single file, the line forms here. --->

I can't partake in this conversation because I'm too stupid, apparently, to notice anything different,

1987: "The problem that you have, and you have a major problem, the problem that you have is that you need; it's such a big big dilemma..."

Interruption... repetition... word salad. Classic Trump. The premise of this topic does seem lost on me from its own supporting evidence. Certainly age has slowed him down, dulled him a bit... but the way he speaks has never been proper and/or fully coherent.

Agent Orange thinks Trump is just an act...?

By now only degenerates pretend he didn't get elected by pandering to the worst elements of society. Birtherism, muslim terrorists, mexican rapists, "those people, you know who I'm talking about" rigging the election, doing his best to avoid upsetting the klan, the best misogyny, etc, etc. No great coincidence such elements appreciate small simple words over anyone who sounds remotely educated, which is why so many of Trump's predecessors did the same. Pretending to be dumb is a conservative "virtue".

I've been saying this for ages. I work with loopy old people every day.

Trumps an old man with a family history of Alzheimers, how good are you expecting his health to be?

He may have all the best words now but the question is how long is he going to know what those words mean?

His apparent iq makes a miraculous recovery when he's not expected to perform so to speak for fans: Eg: http://local12.com/news/election/full-interview-cammy-dierking-sits-down-with-donald-trump

Hardly obama, but not the trailer park or ESL as we've come to expect.
I haven't got time to watch that right now but people with early alzheimers can be completely lucid at times. Particularly if they are feeling comfortable and talking about things they are interested in.
We occasionally have junior doctors swearing blind that a patient we have seen running around the ward naked at night shouting at invisible people is totally with it just because they didn't spend too long with the patients. t

Think about what this argument is implying, that a functionally tarded guy beats all adversaries skilled in their craft into the highest office in the land. So Trump is basically Forrest Gump except he outplays everyone at calculated prowess; even as a movie script would be too unbelievable to greenlight.

It's not like he did it all on his own!

What part of "the world's greatest con artist" do you fail to comprehend?

He's hardly "great" at much, just pretty competent at his niche of appealing to the lowest common denominator, and at the right moment in history when the GOP was going long with minority demographics he makes the perfect short play with white nationalism.

I'll watch that in a moment but... the picture... I cannot get over this picture.

Rather impressive, actually, that he can shift to the preferred speech patters of his base and then back again to his peer. He has done this consistently and masterfully over many years.

President Obama was also a master of this. Downshifting his speech patterns when speaking to his base and then back again to his peers (regardless of race).

Underestimate either of these men at your own peril.

I'm sure you believe obama talks like a moron.

I'm sure you believe obama talks like a moron.

Why would you be "sure" of such a thing?? The projection of your own personal opinions onto others is not logical.

As an aside, I have never met an Harvard educated man that speaks like a "moron", that includes President Obama.

As I clearly stated: Underestimate either of these men at your own peril.

Either I did not write clearly enough or you may be confused. Please re-read my original post.

"President Obama was also a master of this. Downshifting his speech patterns when speaking to his base and then back again to his peers (regardless of race)."

I don't think it's confusing at all.

You are indeed confused. Let me clarify and paraphrase.

President Obama is rather impressive because he has the innate ability to shift speech patterns between his base and his peers. That is difficult to do.

President Trump is rather impressive because he has the innate ability to shift speech patterns between his base and his peers. That is difficult to do.

They are both similar in this regard.

Due the skill of both of these men, one should not underestimate either.

Repeating trite rhetoric doesn't make it more compelling.

My clarification was for your edification, not your acquiescence.

It is just my opinion of both men, nothing more.

I'm assuming when you talk to pets or children it's not with the same speech patterns as adults, so are you also similarly underestimated?

The point here was Trump talks to followers like they're dumb, which doesn't necessarily imply he's dumb.

My opinion stands.

I also do not agree with your opinion that Trump talks to his base as if they are dumb. This would dovetail directly into my statement of underestimating your opponent.
