The lord giveth, and the lord taketh away... Reads like an Onion piece.

Trump takes back Senate endorsement for Mo Brooks - POLITICO

Mo committed heresy.

Brooks wasn't the frontrunner as it is... I suspect this is partly Trump trying to pretend he's a kingmaker by rescinding an endorsement for someone who wasn't likely to win.

And, as I'm sure you know, Brooks remains a pile of Trump-inspired hot garbage who tried to overturn the election and still embraces Trumpist policies. He just made the 'mistake' of accepting the legal reality.

And thus my comment the lord giveth and the lord taketh away was as intended.

Trump only supports winners and liars. Brook's problem is that;
  1. He stated an accurate fact, in that Trump cannot be legally reinstated
  2. He's not doing so well in his bid to be elected.

When Jeff Sessions vacated his seat due to becoming Trump's AG, Trump backed Strange for the Senate bid, and Strange lost to Roy Moore. That's how we ended up with Doug Jones -- arguably the most palatable senator to most people given his fairly middle-ground stance -- in the Senate. Of course, he lost his re-election to a football coach that doesn't know the three branches of government.

Some of the talk that I've seen around here is who will Trump back now in the race. The likely suspect is Katie Britt. Back when the campaigning first started, she seemed like a decent pick for "she probably won't do too much damage" (Democrats in Alabama don't get much of an option). However, from what I've heard, she's been a bit more aligned with the Q mentality, so... probably not so great there.

Mo Brooks is worried Trump is getting played by McConnell spies who've successfully infiltrated the former president's inner circle.

My favorite part is that our good friend Mo knew that Trump tried to overthrow democracy but that wasn’t a big problem until Trump de-endorsed him.

Real stand up guy, that Mo.

Not exactly a shock that McConnell would try to steer Trump; it's just a question of how much. The man is only ever concerned about consolidating power and would probably throw his own children under the bus if he thought it'd lead to a Republican win.

I don't think Trump is going to be as big a king maker as he seems he will be by the time 2024 comes around. He just has more money sitting around than the DNC or the RNC. Would love it if he had to cash his chips in.

LOL at calling him "woke" over his arguing that the 2020 election results can't be legally overturned.

I guess "woke" is now a generic term on the far right for everyone not part of their cult. Then again, many words and phrases seem to mean one thing to them, and another thing to everyone else.

Alabama will vote for who they think is tough. Mike Durant (Blackhawk down) will win the seat anyway regardless of who Trump endorses.
