The emergency is to distract from poor performance on the economy, lack of progress on Ukraine peace talks, and the ever circling around the drain Epstein file debacle.
Or it is just the next step in Project 2025.

“We’re going to rebuild our cities into beacons of hope, safety and beauty – better than they have ever been before,” he said during a recent speech to the National Rifle Association in what has become a common refrain on the campaign trail. “We will take over the horribly run capital of our nation, Washington DC.”...

His allies have an idea of how to capitalize on that agenda and make cities in Trump’s image, detailed in the conservative Project 2025: unleash new police forces on cities like Washington DC, withhold federal disaster and emergency grants unless they follow immigration policies like detaining undocumented immigrants and share sensitive data with the federal government for immigration enforcement purposes.

Foreign criminal escapes arrest!

David Lammy has referred himself to the environment watchdog after going fishing with JD Vance without the required licence during the US vice-president’s trip to the UK.

The foreign secretary hosted Vance and his family at Chevening House in Kent last week, where the pair fished from the property’s private lake. Anglers aged 13 and over must hold a rod licence to fish for freshwater species such as carp in England and Wales. Lammy failed to land a catch, but “all of my kids did”, Vance said.

The Foreign Office said an “administrative oversight” meant licences had not been obtained in advance. Lammy bought them as soon as he was made aware, and wrote to the Environment Agency (EA) to acknowledge the breach. “He also thanked them for their work protecting Britain’s fisheries,” a Foreign Office spokesperson said.

Surely this makes Vance one of those foreign criminals we keep hearing about? Why haven't we locked him up (and deported him)?

This is part of this drill too, 100%, weed out the non fanatics and establish the Waffen SS crew, a sub group of the NG.

Its going GREAT guys. Cant wait to see what you cook up next week. SHIT meeting friday. Fabulous.

You can't just "quit" the National Guard, you serve until your contract is up.
Not to discount what you're saying overall, from the people I know working for the federal government they are attempting to make their jobs as miserable as they can to drive them out (exactly as Russ Vought said).

As a federal employee I can confirm. They are not even hiding it. When asked senior officials at my agency told us that the whole point is to make people miserable so they will quit.

It's worse than Project 2025... is going to the zarism route... USA is turning into another USSR?
Do you not know what Project 2025 is? You keep talking about this tzarism thing, like it's notably different in some way. It's just authoritarianism. That's all.

Do you think they're going to be so brazen as to make you all swear an oath of loyalty to Trump?

I know, but the way Trump is going is more like the Tsarism, which is even worse than the known authoritarism.

The tsar himself, the embodiment of sovereign authority, stood at the center of the tsarist autocracy, with full power over the state and its people.[8] The autocrat delegated power to persons and institutions acting on his orders, and within the limits of his laws.[8] The tsar was metaphorically a father and all of his subjects were his children; this metaphor even appeared in Orthodox primers,[9] and is remembered in the common Russian expression "царь-батюшка" tsar-batyushka ("tsar-dear father").

This part worries me the most... since he does not want just to be recognized as a mere king... but wants to be see as a deity.

I don't agree with your assessment, can you show evidence to support this?
I don't really give a shit what specific flavor of authoritarianism it is, you're debating whether dog shit tastes better than cat shit. I don't want to eat shit at all.

Don't believe anything that Trump says about the Capital. I could go back 30 or 40 years, to explain a history of the MYTH that crime is out of control in DC.

Part of the MYTH arises because DC is 41% African-American. So visitors and suburbanites will spin this crime myth based on city complexions. There are anecdotal stories -- true stories because I heard one from "a victim" -- about being threatened on the street by teeners with Saturday Night Specials. But I always felt safe traipsing around DC at night.

There is no excuse for what Trump is doing. I'm totally upset and alarmed, because he's taking actions and making statements that are just crazy. His supporters don't seem to mind because they hate America anyway. "I'm a patriot, but we have to gerrymander the voting districts because there are too many black, Mezcan, foreign, and Asian people in country." As much as to say "I hate America and I'm a patriot."

The newest made up stuff I've seen from right wingers about this is that crime isn't actually down in DC. Either they claim the DC police chief was falsifying the data or that crime was made legal in DC so it looks better because you can't commit a crime anymore (lol).

It's one big giant dog whistle. He mentioned doing same to other cities (CHI, OAK) that are large minority populations in blue states. It's ridiculously transparent.

Actually I have to agree that Authoritarism is a dissaster for the country, but the way he is making the moves in all the topics, is heading into the worst scenario. Republicans gave him too much power and that make him wants to think that is a god.

Is not helping that the supporters acts like cultists instead of political people.

Why talk about the tsar and then mention the USSR?
Because USSR was extremely focused in Moscow, Trump wants the same too.

Trump's hoax "national emergencies" in liberally led cities works for his MAGAts in so many ways. It distracts from his notorious relationship with Epstein that they all want to conveniently ignore, it panders to his racist following who adore Trump for pulling off these political stunts of his and it gives his millions of don't know shit from shinola constituency something to feel good about themselves. Imagine that, feeling good about being "patriotic" paranoid racists that worship a rabble rousing convicted felon. Who'da thunk that would ever happen before Trump pulled off his biggest con job that's making him $millions$ hand over fist.

Wrap all of that crazed hate fueled racist anger and fear that oddly looks so much like a Baby Ruth candy bar tucked in a shiny golden wrapper emblazoned with Trump's gilded moniker slapped all over it and that right there is what's become of the GOP all because Trump and his oligarch handlers are taking over the gov't in a bid to control the national treasury and the labor force to their liking.

Trump supporters in general are not well travelled and likely haven't left their own state, much less visited DC or any blue cities. They think that San Francisco is awash in needles on the sidewalks and homos hitting on them every 10 feet as they walk down the street. That would be Nashville :p

Trump has put NG around the monuments in DC where there is virtually no crime. We've seen this kind of fascist propaganda before.

If I was a Guardsman wasting my time helping Trump distract attention from his past and present fuck ups and crimes against The People while getting paid a whole lot less than my fulltime private sector job, my level of prankish creativity toward sabotaging his efforts at dangling pretty shiny objects in the faces of his MAGAts would reach proportions the likes of which the people who know what I'm capable of in this regard is going to try to get my wifey and the local pastor to intercede on my unit's behalf. "Never know what hit'um"* (in a harmless yet pointed kind of way.)
