Trump team always planned a coup

Hate to say I told you so again, but I knew back in June 2020 he was planning not to leave. Along with Taj Charlie Brown promoting the best of Trump and having the football pulled away from him yet again. What a dummy.

Of course his response will be "he left office." And if someone aims a gun at your head shoots and misses Taj would say, "Why are you complaining you weren't shot"

I’d like to know what greenman’s thoughts are on this now, seeing that at the time he thought it was nonsense.

But the appeals will take years and IF he wins they all go away, even the Georgia case would have to wait until he’s out of office, which if he wins is never.

The convictions are likely to substantially damage him politically with voters outside the Republican base. Anyway if he makes it back into office the cases against him are going to be the least of our concerns.

Basically everyone before the election was saying this, including him. Yet everyone acted surprised when he tried to coup. He basically said back in 2016 that he wouldn't accept any election he didn't when

And even in 2016 he complained about those phantom 3 million “illegal” votes that he lost the popular vote by.

Yeah that thread does not look good for our resident conservatives (and that one weird random antisemite).

I thought it was quite likely he would attempt to stay in office after losing but I will admit I didn't foresee an attack on the Capitol or just how fully formed the coup attempt was.

"fully formed" LOL

We got the sloppy, half-ass version of the coup. And still it almost came close to a kill shot.

Next time they won't miss.

Given the array and severity of charges against him convictions next year seem real likely. It's not a shock that they'd still back him because they've made their bed.
Which means Dems could get away with murder, and still have my vote.
Any MAGA supporter is an existential threat in so many ways.
And if they are all in, then they are all guilty.

This seems like a good reason to find ways for third parties to bloom without "pulling votes" from one side or the other. Such as instant runoff elections. I don't think this is easily doable for Presidential elections, but I think it can be done for all the lower offices, such as Congress.

Next time they won’t have to because they will win 99.9% to nothing, according to you, just like they have in every other election.

Rank choice voting is one way. Eliminate winner take all. And scrap the electrical college, of course.

Trump can be held civilly liable in Jan. 6 riot, judges rule

"Donald Trump can be held civilly liable for the actions of the mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, an appeals court ruled Friday in a long-awaited decision that could clear the way for lawsuits seeking financial damages from the former president."

^^^ Civil suits can, collectively, bring the fat fuck down!

Well IIRC greens line of "reasoning" was also that Trump too dumb to see it through anyway so doesnt really matter all that much.
