Correct. When the SCOTUS denies certiorari, the lower court ruling stands. Very few cases achieve the four judge consent needed for the court to consider them-

Just heard on NPR that this won't take as long as people think. Could easily see an indictment by the end of the year most likely.

I don't much care about Trump, but I care a lot about proper legal protection from spurious accusations.

His lawyer pleaded guilty to paying hush money illegally during an election, which gave cause to look into Trump's business dealings, like how was that money paid, etc..., and thus opened this can of worms. It's not spurious. Unless you are a hack. I'm willing to wager a good sum of money if this was Obama or Clinton, you'd be a-ok with it.
