He holds a news conference at his golf club about these executive actions:
- Provide as much as $400 in enhanced unemployment benefits -- 25% of which states are being asked to cover
- memorandum on a payroll tax holiday for Americans earning less than $100,000 a year
- an executive order on "assistance to renters and homeowners"
- a memorandum on deferring student loan payments

Even i know he cant unilaterally force states to pay 25% of the $400 but can he even unilaterally pay unemployed people +$x00 more?

Also, can he unilaterally suspend collecting Medicaid/Social Security withholding?

Can he unilaterally just pay unemployed people +400 more?
can he unilaterally suspend collecting Medicaid/Social Security withholding?
He can say whatever he wants on TV. It's what got him elected President.

Good.

Fuck Democrats that want to hold Americans hostage in an attempt to dangle American lives and evictions in an attempt to pass bullshit that is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT to the pandemic.
The biggest thing the Democrats want that Republicans are trying to block is assistance to local and state governments. That dearly affects American lives. Your statement is useless.

Also, you want a king in office that can simply snatch powers from Congress at his leisure?

When two sides are at an impasse, what made you decide that one side, not the other, is solely responsible for said impasse?

There you go again, screaming at the mirror.

The House passed a bill last month. When are the traitor Republicans in the Senate going to pass their bill to help Americans?

And fuck Moscow Mitch and his enabling minions who want to shield their corporate overlords from legal actions when they cut employees loose for no cause.

This won't fly, the Senate will hold up approval or load a bill that includes these provisions with some nonsense, and then blame Democrats that nobody gets assistance.

Lol there is literally funds left over from the FIRST stimulus in regards to state and local funds. Republicans agreed to lax spending requirements to let them more freely spend what is left

What Dems are trying to pass is bullshit like raising the cap on SALT deductions. Which is entirely unrelated to COVID and is entirely related to them being salty over the cap that was introduced in the tax reform bill years ago.

SALT deductions isn't something related to COVID or Americans about to get evicted. It's literally targetted at the Top 10% of income earners lol.

Payroll tax holiday is another terrible idea. Doesn't benefit the unemployed and endangers the solubility of social security.
Except he extended the unemployment as well? Deeeerp.

It essentially means he can neglect tax collection but can't outright send stimulus checks is my guess.

State and local aid is extremely relevant as many places are quite soon to figure out. The funds sought would help communities across the county. Instead Trump says they can get fucked.

This is not dissimilar from how republicans viewed the virus outbreak as a big city problem until it wasn’t.

Mostly because the Republicans have given in. They went from their original of 1 trillion to 2.2 trillion.

Democrats original was 3 trillion. Suffice it to say Republicans have already met over halfway.

Reputable, convincing link for your claim, please. @s0me0nesmind1

@Perknose It was "my bad" and a mistake. I misheard what was said where it is the democrats offering $2.4t

Overall, I can't find a reputable link to what the Republicans are currently offering. I would argue that they are right around $2 Trillion, since what the Democrats are currently agreeing to reduce is based on the current talks.

The only "number" I can find from Republicans is $1Trillion, which was their initial offer and does not reflect the debate that has been going on the last 2-3 weeks. Just like the current number for Democrats isn't their original $3.4t

This is the best I can find:

Republicans say their starting offer was about $1 trillion but have offered some concessions on jobless benefits and aid to states, among others, that have brought the White House offer higher.

Also, part of the negotiation isn't even money related - such as Republicans that are pushing for immunity from lawsuits.

See my note above on SALT and leftover funds from stimulus #1.
