this is really a nothing-burger.
It technically makes sense and I can't imagine Trump will be the one sitting there sending the text (from the toilet)

So long as the message only indicates test and has no political opinion or purpose whatsoever, I don't particularly give a damn. However, should things prove otherwise I would want immediate action to remove him from office for abuse of power. It's historically ridiculous to even have this thought, yet it's Trump, and he's the guy who just publicly mocked someone who just testified publicly about her experience with sexual assault.

I'm sure the President has control which means Trump will use it for nonsense. I can see it now, alert too many Mexicans crossing the border.

Can we just suspend the system until Trump is out of office? His history already shows he can't be trusted. Amirite?

They would be the first to file a lawsuit if there was an actual event and they didn't receive the warning.



Also, I feel stupider for having read this thread. Go ahead and reply (you won't be able to). And sure, let's just suspend the Presidency until 2020. Paul Ryan will be filling in until then, or at least January.

He's talking about the potential for co-opting an emergency alert system for Trump's typical petty political nonsense.

The president should not have the ability to force political messages through a non public system. Yes, that would clearly be an abuse of power.

The comparison was being invited to a political protest / stance you want nothing to do with via an inappropriate venue for it.

My guess is this will simply be a test message, but I like the FUD here that is being spread. Keep up the good work guys. :D

I'm sure some people around here have tin foil hats with Cheetos glued to it. Seriously, we already had a thread about this. Why a new one? Trump can't send it out directly. Obama ordered this FEMA alert functionality.
