Trump says won't divest from his business while president

Well then why the hell all the bitching about his business holdings if he can be bought by a simple compliment?

Again, for the record for the umpteenth time, not a Trump supporter.

Presumably a bigger pander to his interests elicits greater influence. Eg. one guy saying Darwin333 is cool vs paying for 10 yes-men or whatever to say Darwin333 is cool.

Very true.

Funny to watch the lefties twist themselves into a pretzel trying to come up with 'logical' scenarios of how this is horrible. Being one of millions of people to rent a hotel room as a way to buy influence? Seriously? Delusional much?

Seems he's about as easily influenced by personal interests as you, in this case saying whatever it takes to protect your own.

Interesting that foreign diplomats are going out of their way to do that then, huh. I guess you're just smarter than they are when it comes to diplomacy. 😉

That's just one of literally hundreds or thousands of conflicts of interest that are present here. I mean have you not noticed the enormous bipartisan outcry by basically everyone involved in governmental ethics? Here's another one for you that Fern asked for but then ignored. Say employees at one of Trump's hotels attempt to unionize (this just happened at one property). Now their application for union status will be overseen by the NLRB, which reports to Trump. So basically an agency that is run by Trump gets to decide if his employees can unionize.

It takes people twisting themselves into a pretzel to justify how this is even remotely okay, not the other way around.

He could already be guilty.

He may have had an "or else" and forced them to take the deal.

I doubt that. The Trump organization has opposed unionization at the Vegas hotel for some while. If Trump wanted to strong arm the Union he'd stall until he got the NLRB he wanted.

What was a profit issue has been set aside for political expediency & PR purposes.

Or in other words, an ethical charade. I really doubt he will continue to put his political interests ahead of his personal interests for much longer.

It's a small thing in the greater scheme of it all. Trump will be rolling in cash like Scrooge McDuck before it's over.
