Well when Trump speaks to foreign leaders he thinks it's nobody else's business because he needs to make sure his personal needs and desires are taken care of first and foremost. He wants to be able to hang up on those calls with the confidence that the person on the other end will speak of him in flowery language praising him for his genius and his outstanding leadership qualities, his ability to make deals (mostly for himself). He can then lie his ass off about what went down with no one bearing witness to refute those zingers of his.

So what if it all spectacularly backfires on him like it's happened so many times before. His supporters haven't cared or if they do it's because they think he's being picked on and why don't people just leave him alone?

Trump has now got himself covered both within and outside of the White House. He can pretty much do whatever he wants. How much slack in that rope he's got around his neck is anyone's guess but her's sure testing the limits every time he does something really really stupid.

The purpose of people (NSC, State, Military) being around for the call is to protect the country, number one and to protect the president, number 2. Only a person with criminal intent would not want a call on record.

I'd done a lot of reading about entities like NSA. There are some books by a guy named Bamford: "the Puzzle Palace", "Body of Secrets" etc. Just as with the post- JFK Records Collection Act and Clinton-era declassifications, "Body of Secrets" examined documents and intercepts for the purpose of filling in historical unknowns. I think NSA can still do that. It may be that someone is listening, and the Pres doesn't know, or the records or transcripts will come to light later. But in his short-sighted, cluttered thinking, he only has to restrict access by immediate staff to have privacy.

So I hope he's wrong in that assumption. But the longer he remains in office to purge people in the career service who still think they're serving the Constitution, the Law and the country, the more likely he can tamper with juggernauts like NSA, CIA and DOD. Look what he's done to the State Department!
