Trump rips George W. Bush after he calls for unity amid coronavirus outbreak

Donald "Dumb" Trump doesn't have half the intelligence that Dubya Bush has! The word "SCHOOL" and "INTELLIGENT" plus Trump do not go in the same sentence. I have not in my half a century of being on the earth have not come across a person as stupid as him anywhere. No where in NYC, in New York State or the Hudson Valley where I am from and near NYMA where he went to school. This tells you that the Twitter stuff and the "incoherent" rallies are an "act" and a "ruse". And White folk's eat it up and "love"it. Trump is an "actor" and an "entertainer". I have met some people who were less smarter then others but, Trump created himself! He is NOT a product of our state. No way, No how! Him and his communications director for Twitter put on this "unbelievable" show for the American people every day. And it's just sad. I know people across the land can not believe this showman is from New York. He is more like an embarrassment than a person we call our favorite son of New York. He has never been called that because he doesn't deserve it!

I think it's pretty cunning that a guy who has been nothing but a total fuck up in business has for forty years manipulated the media into making him the face for success in America. The guy has been falling upward his entire life by being such a skilled conman. Everyone calling him stupid when he screws something up for America almost seems to be implicitly thinking he was ever working for them in the first place.
I agree that stupid might not be the right word. He is lazy, ignorant, and incurious doesn’t he often says stupid things but the source of it isn’t necessarily a lack of intellectual capacity it’s that his mental illness prevents him from taking in and processing information normally. That’s all different when it comes to feeding his narcissism though.

So yes, if you look at normal things like running a company or running the government or whatever for all intents and purposes he’s extremely stupid. He’s been a failure at both despite massive support and advantages because he’s incapable of thinking problems through and planning long term. When it comes to things that can provide him narcissistic supply though like public relations, displays of dominance, fighting with people, etc. those things have his complete attention and he’s quite good at them. The capacity is there, it’s just functionally inaccessible for anything useful.

Also at this point it seems like he’s suffering from serious cognitive decline so whatever he once had is getting worse. His brain appears to be basically pudding at this point.

He's only a failure running the country if you look at it from the perspective of the people.

He’s also a failure by many of his own metrics I imagine in that he’s the most enduringly disliked president in history and I’m very confident he cares a lot about how he is viewed. Sure he might have convinced himself his unpopularity is all a lie by this point but he still has had to deal with the narcissistic injury that people just don’t like him and think he’s doing a bad job.

He does appear to have enriched himself considerably by stealing money from his campaign and the government though so I imagine he views that part as a success.

Look at it from the perspective of those who matter in this country and the Trump presidency has been a raging success. A huge corporate tax windfall. Two young hard right Supreme Court justices on a life term. Tons of young hard right federal judges confirmed to bastardize our court system. Total destruction of the power of labor caused by this new great depression. Trump is a failure only through the lens of what he's left the American people. We're not his constituency. He has been great to the nation's oligarchs.

While I agree he’s been great for rich people and he cares about that a lot he doesn’t actually give a fuck about judges or destroying the power of labor. He probably didn’t even know how the federal judiciary worked before becoming president, he just talks a lot about it now because conservatives told him it would play well with the base.

This is my point, he might do things that right wing people like but I don’t think that measures success for him. For him success is defined by adulation, money, and crushing his enemies. I think he’s probably done decently well with money but he’s widely disliked and looks to be on the way to a humiliation few presidents contend with, a one term presidency.

I think Trump loves playing the villain and has always had a disdain for labor, so he loves crushing them too. And no way he doesn't love getting justices confirmed that will be favorable to him and his peers at the expense of peasants like us that he spits on.

I also don't buy Trump is necessarily a one-term president. This pandemic only scares the non-Trumptard, so you gotta think there is a great chance the 70% doesn't have a high enough turnout again, especially with a weak candidate like Biden. But the 30% will go to hell and back for our Dear Leader and don't take the pandemic seriously. Look at who is dying in this pandemic, lots of brown people that Trump hates. Lots of people in cities that Trump hates.

I sincerely doubt he gives much of a shit about them. You can tell by the fact that he has played basically no part in the confirmation process.

He's lazy, it would interfere with his TV watching. But it's what he wants and McConnell does all the work for him.

No way to know for sure of course but Trump is an unpopular incumbent and if the election were held today he would almost certainly lose.

Also I’m not sure where people get the idea that Biden is a weak candidate considering he has consistently polled better against Trump than anyone else. He’s the kind of candidate that people who frequent this board may not like, but he’s very popular with important constituencies.

I think you have it precisely backwards. Confirming justices is important to McConnell, not Trump. Because Trump basically doesn’t care about policy the deal they seem to have is that congressional Republicans turn a blind eye to his stealing and he gives them free reign to implement their policies without interference.

I think in a month or two it will be in Trump country full swing. We'll see if people change their minds then.

It's definitely of the utmost importance to McConnell. But Trump wants it too.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. And if it is it'll be because of Obama / Pelosi / Shumer. The 30% will never turn their back on Trump because it's emotionally fulfilling to vote for the guy who goes on TV and echoes all the right wing conspiracy crap they have been consuming through Clear Channel and Fox News and repeating for 20-25 years now.

I guess we will agree to disagree. I think Trump may have become slightly more interested once he saw judges he appointed help enable his stealing but that’s a second order effect at best. Inherently they mean nothing to him.

Trump want's it because he has been told that he should want it.

Trump barely understands how it all works and frames the legal system in the context of how he has abused the legal system through his constant frivolous lawsuits and bankruptcies.
He sees it as having judges in his personal pocket.

If they keep saying Biden is a weak candidate sooner or later a lot of people will believe it. Don't vote for a weak candidate. Just stay home. Repetition is the heart of propaganda.

Just another tool in the kit of tricks the Repubs have to rely on in lieu of arguing facts and truths, of which would only prove their guilt on so many levels and in so many ways.

The Repubs have gotten themselves looped into a circle of lies, each lie falsely justifying the previous one with a more unbelievable version piled on top of the other as they circle back on themselves.

The more they lie, the more discredited they become to those that aren't yet hopelessly ensnared in the web of lies the Repubs have wrapped their believers in.

That works both ways though. The media could also say Trump is a weak president/candidate. I mean if were talking about people who believe stuff just because they hear it a lot. They would be influenced either direction. Basically they are "in the way people" as Bill Burr would call them. They most likely cant think for themselves of give much a damn about politics in general to even remotely follow what is going on. Sad that both sides rely on getting these ignorant people to vote for them.

We need a test you have to pass in order to vote. Still a popular vote, but only by the well informed lol
