Fights are not evidence protesters started it. In fact all evidence to date indicates Trump supporters start fights including the clip of old white guy sucker punching the black guy and later threatening to kill him.

I sure as hell don't want it. I think you don't want it either.

But the people who are inciting violence may not want it but it is going down a path where from the impossible it becomes improbable, then it becomes not likely until we're at each other's throats and it actually happens.

I would love for everyone to calm down, but I'm way too cynical at this point. Telling people to behave when anger is running in their veins is easier said than done.

CHICAGO -- Hundreds of jubilant protesters chanted victory cries and jeered at glum Donald Drumpf supporters as they filed out of an auditorium where the Republican presidential candidate abruptly canceled a campaign rally Friday night.

Outside, the tenor of hourslong protests shifted when one protester passed on word of the cancellation through a megaphone on the campus of the ethnically diverse University of Illinois at Chicago. The crowd roared in delight and began chanting: "We stopped Drumpf! We stopped Drumpf!"

The protesters closed in on the building, obstructing most of the exits just as Drumpf supporters began filing out. The Drumpf supporters had little choice but to push through the anti-Drumpf crowds that parted only slightly, yelling, "Racists go home!"
"I think it's a great thing that happened," Sierria Coleman, a 28-year-old graduate student, said about the cancellation. "To have (the Drumpf rally) at this school, for what this school stands for, is disrespectful."

Drumpf supporter Bill Vail said he walked through a gauntlet of protesters who cursed at him as he pushed through holding his 9-year-old daughter's hand. She cried, he said.

"They scream about tolerance, but are being intolerant themselves," Vail, 43, of the Chicago suburb of Oaklawn, said. "That doesn't make sense."

Hours earlier, Drumpf supporters and opponents stood calmly in a line together waiting to get inside. Police horses and barricades kept the bulk of the demonstrators across the street. Drumpf opponents were protesting what they called his divisive comments, particularly about Muslims and Mexicans. Dozens of UIC faculty and staff had petitioned university administrators to cancel the rally, citing concerns it would create a "hostile and physically dangerous environment."

Tensions outside rose only after news of the cancellation spread.

At one point, nearly 20 officers who had been manning barricades suddenly bolted for an intersection across a street bridge over a freeway - where protesters shouted at and jostled with police already there. An officer was seen walking from that intersection with blood on his head. A police spokesman said later that he couldn't provide details.

There were some other isolated physical confrontations among members of the crowd. Five people were arrested overall, Chicago police said.

Drumpf supporters Stu and Roberta Aschauer from suburban Warrenville criticized the protesters' behavior.

"I hear all this free speech crap, but they want to shut down free speech for us," Stu Aschauer said.

"This is unfair, the protesters, the way they are treating us," added Roberta Aschauer.

One demonstrator, Karie Otteburn, 28, of Chicago, said she had little sympathy that Drumpf supporters felt uncomfortable as they left.

"If you are going to support a divisive candidate, you're opening yourself up to that kind of thing," she said.

Who's stupid enough to hold an anti-Trump rally anyway? What's the upside there?

Are these protesters trying to convince Trump supporters that they're assholes and you're offended? They'll be proud of that. They want that.

Are these protesters trying to bolster Trump's message that liberals are trying to silence him because he's telling hard truths? Good job, you played into his message.

Are these protesters trying to make the mistreatment of people at his rallies not seem so bad by giving the impression that there are troublemakers that attend them? Great.

There's no upside to it. these protesters are not going to gain anything by doing it. You can only lose. Why the fuck would you do it?

This is probably the best thing that could happen to the Trump campaign. It alleviates problems he was having (violent rallies) by suggesting he's not the troublemaker. It makes him sympathetic. It makes it look like the boogeyman he's rallying against might really exist.

Everyone involved in this protest is a fucking moron. Even though Bernie has nothing to do with this and clearly wouldn't stand for this, he'll probably be collateral damage because the narrative will say it's all Bernie supporters, not his true supporters, and even though it's probably mostly a mix of BLM retards, communist/anarchist/emo kids who love to protest anything, and groups of opportunistic protesters who don't actually care but love an opportunity for violence and looting.

This is exactly the sort of thing that will light a spark in Trump's campaign, excuse his flaws, and make him sympathetic to a much bigger range of voters. They gave the impression that the nonsense he's rallying against is actually real, and now people are going to support him to fight you. Good job you fucking idiots.

They're were Muslims and Palestinian people there. I saw it on TV. I saw hijabs there. It was a coordinated event. I'm writing this as I am in the train on the way to the Bronx.
