Trump probably shot at a rally -- Still a jerk

I think this definitely helps Trump. The main reason is I think it'll divert the attention from Biden's incompetency and put that to rest. Which means Biden stays in much more likely which is good for Trump.

And I don't see Trump fist pumping and being tough when he's hurt. That guy would scramble under the nearest old lady to take cover. Just doesn't make any sense.

If there's going to be any conspiracy theories this was definitely a trump party false flag

Not really. You think people are now going to vote for Trump who weren’t previously? All this does is cement his base and their belief that Trump is their savior. For everyone else, it’s shocking but at the same time totally not unexpected.
It normalizes violence. All this takes is for one more extremist to believe he 'needs' to take action to preserve something, which leads to another, then another. Before long you're at a french revolution, hanging the bourgeoisies in the streets.

It definitely escalates things!

Unconfirmed, but I’m hearing that Trump was injured by ballistic glass shattering and not grazed by a bullet?? I couldn’t see any glass in the video of him speaking before the shots, but perhaps it was off camera??

Hmm that would make more sense. As I joked, how even the most incompetent hit man could miss such a large target.

The US has not possessed what I would call a real shortage of political violence historically.

Multiple reports say it was flying glass from the teleprompter.

Though the Daily Mail has it both ways in its particularly confused reporting - in one place saying it was glass from the teleprompter, in other parts of the same report referring to him being 'shot in the side of the head'.

Two sides to this scenario: Either the shooter was very very bad, or as conspiracies go, he was very very good.

edit - As an aside, in a quirky kind of way where Trump has been preaching violence against his enemies for all these years, karma in it's many prophetically ironic moods turned his word and deed on himself.

Ughh, Trump immediately pumping his fist and shouting “FIGHT!! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!” [after asking for his shoes] as he’s escorted off the stage.

Welp, I’m guessing he won’t be looking to tone down the rhetoric anytime soon.
Almost getting your head blown off might get some people hyped up I guess.

Oh I fucking called it—Steve Scalise is the first to point the finger at Dem rhetoric about Project 2025 as “radicalizing the left”.

Well he doesn't mention P2025 because I don't think that was his intent nor would he like to have people look it up.

The Biden campaign had kind of centered things around "Democracy" broadly, an approach which a lot of Ds already thought was failing. Switching gears to other issues including likely Trump policy in a 2nd term probably the best all around move.

True to form, Biden shows more compassion than Trump.
What? He didn't even offer his thoughts and prayers for Trump and his family after an assassination attempt?

He couldn't have been more callous if he tried.

Just more rambling and bloviating about stopping violence after preaching for months that Trump is an existential threat to Democracy.

What this will absolutely do is give Trump an even bigger ego boost and I can almost guarantee his retribution rhetoric will be turned up to 11.
And how do most people react to assassination attempts?

I guess he should withdrawal from the race and hide in his basement right?

Trump supposedly released a truth social post. It was clearly written by his staff. I expect his future posts to go off the rails even more than normal.
