Trump probably had a hand spreading false Seth Rich story

Seriously, there is no bar too low for this walking shit stain on American history. The principals involved are denying Trump's involvement but we know he and Hannity have met frequently, and we know this story was the primary deflection strategy when Comey was fired.

http://www.npr.org/2017/08/01/54078...s-and-trump-supporter-created-fake-news-story

The Fox News Channel and a wealthy supporter of President Trump worked in concert under the watchful eye of the White House to concoct a story about the murder of a young Democratic National Committee aide, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The explosive claim is part of the lawsuit filed against Fox News by Rod Wheeler, a longtime paid commentator for the news network. The suit was obtained exclusively by NPR...

On April 20, a month before the story ran, Butowsky and Wheeler — the investor and the investigator — met at the White House with then Press Secretary Sean Spicer to brief him on what they were uncovering.

The first page of the lawsuit quotes a voicemail and text from Butowsky boasting that President Trump himself had reviewed drafts of the Fox News story just before it went to air and was published.

Spicer now tells NPR that he took the meeting as a favor to Butowsky, a reliable Republican voice. Spicer says he was unaware of any contact involving the president. Butowsky now tells NPR he was kidding about Trump's involvement.

"Rod Wheeler unfortunately was used as a pawn by Ed Butowsky, Fox News and the Trump administration to try and steer away the attention that was being given about the Russian hacking of the DNC e-mails," said Douglas Wigdor, Wheeler's lawyer.

Edit: I edited the title as WaPo is sharing additional details on the WH connection, including the possibility that Mr. Wheeler's false quotes about a link between Rich, Wikileaks and the FBI came from Trump himself.

We'll have to see how the lawsuit shakes out, but there's no question that Fox News used the bogus Seth Rich conspiracy to distract from allegations against Trump's campaign. You know it's bad when even Fox, the outlet that acts as a Republican mouthpiece and gladly leaves misleading stories online, had to retract its story. Not sure how much of Sean Hannity's focus on it was the network's attempt to keep the myth alive versus his personal obsession.

Haha we'll have to check in on The_Donald a little later to catch the GOP response.
They probably think this is confirmation that Hilary personally killed Seth Rich while handing uranium to Putin or some other insane bullshit. Man, checking in on The_Donald is just a fucking headache of stupidity that isn't worth it.

Fox news is a criminal propaganda arm of corporate America whose function is to pervert the truth by manufacturing moral rage among a desperate population that would turn on its masters if they knew the real causes of their frustration.

Whether or not Trump himself was actively involved, freedom of the press is officially under attack. When a leader of a so-called "news organization" agrees to peddle the fiction of a wealthy party donor, we have big problems. The right has argued that Soros has been doing this for years...I've never seen any hard evidence but I wouldn't doubt that both sides have made attempts. Still, this becomes a bigger issue when the WH Press Secretary gets involved...

Trump directly coordinating with Fox News. Given their dinners together, one can only presume it to be true.

What separation does Trump keep between himself and conflicts of interest? None that I can tell. This is fraud, and the truth appears to be that Trump was involved in that fraud.

When I first read that the origin of the Seth Rich conspiracy theory was a Fox News piece based on a single anonymous source, I just assumed the source was the White House. Now it appears to be a republican donor in consultation with the White House. Same difference. Hannity, who also has dinner with Trump, and who has pushed the theory more than anyone else, was undoubtedly in on it. It's basically 100% certain that Hannity knew the story was fake. No matter, Trump's followers will no doubt rationalize this in one way or another.

FOX News and Trump are two pathological liars covering for each other with lies piled on top of more lies. And then there's the folks who heartily dig into all of that bullshit as if that ever growing stinking pile of BS was prime ribeye fresh off the grill.

I tell ya's, things just keep getting more incredibly surreal when witnessing this spectacle as it unfolds.

Calling this dysfunctional alternate reality show an epic train wreck in progress is being way too kind when taking into consideration the monumental damage that's being wrought on the nation.

But millions upon millions of fellow Americans approve of it.

Go figure that one out.

And it works great, even better than religion. And like religion, people have to want to be receptive to the lies; it's a choice.

People wondered how ridiculously stupid and obvious propaganda could have instigated the Rwandan genocide. But here we are with Donald Trump elected on a promise of looking out for the little people.

What's interesting about this lawsuit is that the source for the story claims that the Fox reporter literally made up quotations from him, that the story was pure fake news concocted by this reporter. I don't think this will stick to Trump because the link to Trump is denying Trump's involvement. I hope Wheeler is successful in his lawsuit against Fox though. It's another large chunk of money they'll have to pay out.

No, Fox and conservative media in general provides a platform for symbolic racism in a transactional exchange for political support on econ matters. That's why you have klan types parroting the heritage foundation, as long as they also broadcast about mexican rapists coming for white womens, too.

It's a simple enough mutually beneficial relationship which many players in the american political ecosystem try to play too dumb to understand.

Benefit worth the cost in this case. These people aren't dumb no matter how much easily duped liberals like to think so.

The intent to impute choice to mechanical sound asleep people is an attempt to justify blaming them for what their sleep brings them. You do this because you are asleep to the fact that people are asleep and can't be blamed for anything. You do not want to experience the utter hopelessness that is the worlds condition, but you and you alone can be saved. You are the only one you can save. Do that and maybe things will look better.

That's absurd. Racism is of benefit to nobody. It destroys the other and the other creator. There are only delusional benefits that have been inculcated by propaganda. You believe in racism because you believe as racists to that the other should be made to feel worthless. They are what they are and you are what you are because you already feel worthless. You want to express the hate your feelings of inferiority bring you, but the answer is not to act on hate but awaken from your dream. The other is you and hate keeps you from forgiving either.

Holy crap, WaPo article now published, this is picking up steam:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...white-house-link-in-the-seth-rich-conspiracy/

Here's the juicy bit:
In a recording of a three-way call that day with Butowsky and Zimmerman provided to Folkenflik, she seems to acknowledge that.

“Not the part about, I mean, the connection to WikiLeaks, but the rest of the quotes in the story did” come from Wheeler, she says. Butowsky tells Wheeler, “One day you’re going to win an award for having said those things you didn’t say.”

Zimmerman says that her superiors at Fox News told her to keep the quotes. Wheeler had first called Butowsky to complain. Butowsky allegedly pointed the finger at the White House.

So there you have it folks. Plaintiff has his own issues with credibility, but it fits the pattern of Donald dictating a response to Don Jr.'s meeting with the Russian lawyer. I'm not 100% convinced that POTUS fabricated quotes linking Rich to the FBI and Wikileaks, but damn, even the possibility cannot be ignored (Spicer finally came clean and said the WH was aware of this story before it was published, even though he lied about during a press briefing at the time.)

JFC....and no that's not a typo about fried chicken. i don't think any author in their wildest dreams could have imagined this level of bullshit going on in the whitehouse

Obvious enough even to your fans that you're not so goddamn stupid as to believe a racial caste system isn't beneficial to those at the top.

Right. Anybody who thinks its beneficial is god damned stupid including those at the top. You have no moral compass so how would you be expected to know what is beneficial. Stop apologizing for racists. They have no idea what is beneficial.

Amusing rhetoric coming from confederate sons' new bff. You know, those people you've been trying to reel in by covering for their "merely thought crime".
