I don't like posting in a thread I have not read from beginning to end and have not done so here, but I am curious if Trump's continued attacks on Bragg after his court appearance will have any consequences. I think he was warned in court to be careful but I don't see him as able to contain his narcissistic hatred of competent people he can't bend to his will.

I don't think we know that as shown specifically in his written statements delivered to the public explaining the indictment. While I expect violations of state and federal campaign laws are SOME of those potential underlying crimes we definitely can't say they are the only ones.

He can argue "in the alternative" as we say, and he may do just that, but it muddies the issue for a jury. If his primary intent was to conceal an election related crime, then any tax benefit would have been incidental. The question is would Trump have falsified the records only for tax purposes, even had their been no legal issue regarding the hush money payment. If the answer is no, then the requisite intent for a tax crime isn't there.

Again, this all kind of seems like pointless speculation considering we have no idea what facts Bragg has or what other crimes he may claim have been committed.

In the event Trump is found guilty and sentenced to prison, does he still have secret service protection? If so, will the agents spend their time in prison with him?
Maybe Biden can make some arrangement with a Mexican prison where he would be safe.

So here's something to consider. This case will go to trial because Trump won't accept a plea bargain that involves him pleading to a felony, while Bragg would never have even brought the case if it was only misdemeanors.

So any attorney worth his license would strongly warn Trump not to testify. Even though the case is based at least in part on two co-conspirators fingering Trump for a conspiracy and Trump's testimony is the only way to directly refute Cohen and Pecker, there is no way they advise him to testify.

But Trump is pissed, and he's a narcissist. Trump thinks he's a "stable genius" with "all the best words." Suppose he defies advice of counsel and testifies anyway? Any bets on how many perjury counts he manages to drum up while testifying?

Seriously, knowing Trump I give this like a 1 in 3 chance of happening.

Trump has always been timid in his court appearances. It’s the one place he keeps his mouth shut unless asked so far.

The judge has a fine line to walk also. Even though he and his daughter have been directly attacked, he can’t stomp down too hard or he’ll be forced to recuse himself. But not like another NY judge will be sympathetic to the orange monkey. So who knows if he wants out of this shitshow.

QAnon should be warning Trump that he has deep state lawyers who will do anything to keep him from testifying because only if he does so will he be able to save himself. Only he has the competence, the experience, and the brains to talk himself out of any adversity. He and he alone can convince a jury of anything.

Any chance Crackhead Jr is going to get contempt or obstruction charges, or worse, for threatening the judge's family and essentially calling on MAGA nation to do violence against them?

I say as soon as the judge and family get death threats, that family needs to be put in a hole and out of public access until all of them have been processed.

Sadly the worst is the daughter sues him.

Uh, no, I don't think so. The judge would not have to recuse himself from the case for attacks on his family. If that was true, every criminal who went before a judge, would attack judge's families if they didn't like the judge, to get him removed. A judge can't be forced to recurse himself for the defendant's intimidation tactics. However, the Defendant can be charged, and held accountable for any crimes he commits during those intimidation tactics.. rightfully so. A Judge typically only recurse themselves for prior ties to the defendant, or conflict of interests before a case every is assigned to the Judge, or the person is charged. Not because of situation created deliberately by a defendant AFTER he is charged and arraigned.

Unlikely SS agents will be with him. If he's sentenced to detention he'll be in special circumstances which will have protection built in.

So he can quietly "commit suicide" without being on camera? (like Jeffery Epstein)

Breakdown and analysis of the charges (by criminal defense lawyer, Bruce Rivers) and how things will likely unfold in the trial. Summation, Bragg has an easy case to prove vs Trump.

Judge in this case donated small amounts to democrats/Biden.

Judge should recuse himself. Sitting judges should not be making political donations, no matter the amount. This process needs to be squeaky clean.

If we want to complain over judicial ethics with someone like Clarence Thomas, who is much worse, everything on our end needs to be on the up and up.
Under the circumstances I'm inclined to agree.

If it were just about any other case, I would say the amounts are so small that one would have to be joking in requesting or suggesting a recusal
