The mountain of evidence is epic, and yet no charges yet....it needs to happen. Even I'm tired of "it's obvious trump crimed but he's still a free man"

If he isn't in an orange jumpsuit at club fed, he's not fucked
Yes I get it, your point is what is taking so long. But you’re not going to immediately charge a former president and slowly drip, drip, drip and add charges during the investigation. Jack smith is going to drop a bomb when its fully done.

Kind of looking like it's going to be a nuclear bomb. The Bigliest bomb for Trump.

Lol breaking news. The orange monkey on tape in summer of ‘21 were he admits he has classified documents knowing full well he wasn’t supposed to keep it.
And from a PR sense these appear to be VERY serious documents - details of a US plan to attack Iran. There are lots of documents that are classified but shouldn't be - this does not sound like one of them. Truly vital national security information and he's apparently on tape saying he wanted to share them.

I think this majorly raises the odds he cuts a deal with another Republican where he drops out and endorses them in exchange for the promise of a pardon because I can't see any way the Justice Department lets this go. (again, assuming the article is accurate)

The only way he stays out of prison here other than dying is if he wins the presidency himself or another Republican pardons him, and 'he wanted to share secret attack plans about Iran' seems like an extremely powerful attack.

I don’t think his ego would allow him to do that. He’s more likely to call for another coup than to concede to some other candidate.

We know he can't win, and as much of an idiot as he can be, I think he knows he at least *might* not win.

If this info is accurate a plea/pardon seems to let him save as much face as possible and avoid prison. He can go back to whining about everyone being against him immediately. Of course, he has to make that deal with someone that can beat Biden.

Trump will never grasp that he was a government employee - a Civil Servant. And that the “toys” the president of the United States gets to play with are not actually his, and their use is governed by federal law. What he’s gotten away with almost every single time in his life doesn't pale in comparison to being the president. What doesn’t seem to occur to him, and hasn’t since 2015, is that the President of the United States comes under a lot more scrutiny than he’s used to. He just runs his mouth without taking anything into consideration. Such as who might be listening, now or in the future, and if he can be sued or sent to jail for it.

Wanting to share national security information like this (and when Trump says ‘Share’ he means ‘Highest Bidder’) shows how mentally ill he is and should be a warning that he never steps foot in ANY government office again. The man is so emotionally warped and cognitively stunted that he is unable to grasp the meaning or significance of “state secrets.” There is only that which is useful and valuable to him personally, and everything else which is irrelevant and worthless, and it would be nonsensical for him not to use every opportunity to leverage control of the first category of things to maximize his profit while ignoring every single thing in the second category, because that’s the limit of his capacity for understanding.

I'm not sure i would call him mentally ill for this reason; just selfish and unethical. He could care less 'bout what happens to america (or the people in america) as long as he trumps.

Yet the people who voted for him would claim, "I didn't know he couldn't be trusted"

Would make a good poll question.

Assessment of Trump trustworthiness in 2016?

I knew he couldn't be trusted.
I thought he could be trusted.
I knew he couldn't be trusted but didn't care. At least not a Dem

What's also interesting is that his retention of this particular document, and what he said about it on tape, reveals at least one reason Trump kept classified docs. Apparently Milley has been publicly criticizing Trump for pushing to invade Iran during the 2020 election season. Which isn't hard to believe that Trump would think starting a war during the election would help him win. But Trump apparently denies this and wanted to use this highly classified doc to prove that it was Milley's idea to invade Iran. Of course, this invasion plan was almost certainly requested by the White House.

I guess it didn't occur to him that publicly revealing a detailed invasion plan for a foreign country might be bad for national security. Or just doesn't give a shit. I agree that, other than nuclear secrets, this is about as sensitive a document as there is.

In my experience their usual response is first to say it’s a lie or misrepresented and then once it’s irrefutable they switch to ‘well all politicians do this’.

I’m entirely sure he doesn’t give a shit about national security. Scarier thought was his motivation you just mentioned. He wanted to expose highly sensitive national security information because someone talked shit about him on TV.

Yes, Trump's blatant disregard for national security shows why this isn't just a technical violation of law, that no one is nitpicking here. If ever there was a case to prosecute someone for retaining records, this is it. They just need to do it, like now.

The sad but important detail is that this particular document was classified Secret. It sounds backwards, but the intelligence community goes absolutely apoplectic about investigating things TS or above because it's almost impossible to get the point across how damaging the release of the information is to a jury without actually releasing the information. So, now they will go after him, with all of it neatly tied in a bow, so fuckface can't weasel his way out of this. Good luck you Fn traitor with your clown car pack of loser lawyers.

Every minute he walks free is another minute for him to whine and moan to his base about how unfair and persecuted he is treated.

It plays into his real superpower - delay, delay, obstruct, fling shit everywhere.

I don't know about youi guys but it seems to me that boasting about state defense secrets being sold to or offered as extortion/narcicistic bragging fodder seems like a pretty big crime, doesn't it?

what do you guys think? Espionage Act--specifically for state security--applies here more than it has ever applied anywhere, and without question--so I think that's a pretty big deal, no?

I wonder if our resident shitclowns will be able to explain this one away....like, "see, it has to be FOR MONEY and you can't prove that he just didn't want to brag about it! because that's like, a law I just invented. SEE! so not really that big of a deal because the INTENT behind willfully compromising the security of our homeland more than it has ever been done before--matters the most!"

I fucking guarantee you we are going to get shit like that. I also know from which mouths it will come, lol.
