This isn't as much of a smoking gun as you'd hope. For one thing the lawyer was working remotely and never saw the docs to know one way or the other. Secondly, the article is all hearsay. He didn't comment on the actual question at hand.

Yes, I believe this happened. Will he flip on Trump under oath? Most likely not, it would ruin his career.
Well he's not flipping but......

Christina Bobb has already retained an attorney and colleagues are urging Evan Corcoran to do the same

It's a she? Now I have all sorts of questions... (and no, this wasn't a dig at transgenders, but rather to how Trump feels about women. Per my post above, I had made an assumption based on this that the person was male.)

Yes, easily.

So why didn't this happen with any of Trump's associates? Trump will be indicted and will most likely face a jury in DC, where he won 5.4% of the vote. Is the idea that Trump's lawyers will not only be able to find Trump voters in that 5.4% but also find ones so obstinate they will refuse to convict on anything AND that prosecutors won't challenge them?

I remember how the enlightened take a year ago or so was 'Trump will never be indicted and will get away with everything'. As that has turned out to be pretty obviously wrong the new enlightened take is that he can never be convicted. I suspect that will be proven similarly wrong. The only way Trump escapes is if he's able to delay the trial long enough until he dies or is pardoned. Even then he's in deep shit from state prosecutions that he can't be pardoned for. (at least not by the governor)

Trump's associates aren't Trump. They don't have the personal mass-following, what protection they have stems purely from Trump's sense of loyalty to his underlings (i.e. they have no protection at all).

I'm completely agnostic as to whether Trump will get his legal deserts. Really don't know. Your last point seems very relevant. The clock is ticking given his physical condition, so it could very well be the process drags on so slowly that we never find out if he'd have been convicted or not.

I generally agree - I think a plea deal is unlikely unless he gets the sweetheart deal to end all sweetheart deals or something. Admitting he was guilty could very well be impossible for someone as mentally ill as he is.

I think it's clear his strategy is maximum fight and delay the entire way with the hope that he is bailed out by a future Republican president.

I don't think a sweetheart deal could exist that would make Trump he's guilty. "if you admit your guilt here, we'll drop all the charges and we'll make you 2024 president without there even being an election"

He thinks he's innocent, and he still believes if he runs in 2024 he'll win, because he still believes 2020 was rigged. I mean in his head it's impossible he could ever lose at anything in life. His countless bankruptcies are a normal thing. And I don't think his puny brain has the power to process what COULD happen here. I know he was our president, but he was also deemed unfit to use Twitter and banned from it for life. I wouldn't want to work for a small business that had an owner who was incapable of tweeting. But that was our glorious leader for 4 years.

And apparently, 98% of the GOP still supports him and wants him to be president again. They're a very very loyal bunch, far more loyal than I could ever be to anyone. I'll give em that.

I have to admit, though, if one ever finds oneself using the expression "my attorney's attorney" it would mean things aren't going well. How long before his attorney's attorney has to retain an attorney, I wonder?

Maybe, but also Trump's associates were convicted in FAR friendlier environments to them than DC will be. DC is literally the most hostile jury pool on Planet Earth for Trump. He got 5% of the vote there!

While I guess it depends on what you mean by 'support' his standing in the GOP has significantly weakened over the last year and a half or so.

I’m thinking they’ll reject it until full 11th circuit court rules on it. But DOJ has had what, 10 days or so now to go through the classified documents. So moot point now.

Crise everything i check this thread there are like 10 new pages of posts; how can anyone possibly keep up.

He and Alito are diehard fringe frothing at the mouth lunatics - but I don't think the other three crazy conservatives are yet. I think part of it is that they are calculating the party is better off moving on from Trump, not like they actually have morals.
I think they do zero calculations, just look at their legislation it is all about right now. Zero effort is put into building something.

They're a she? "It's" is dehumanizing.
One could argue someone defending trump isn't human.

Also...the next time someone gives birth I'll remember to say "They're a boy!" Or "They're a girl!" Wouldn't want someone looking to get triggered to misunderstand and dehumanize them. Of course I'm pretty sure the person will look at me and say, there's only 1 baby there, why don't you lay off the model glue.

I think there are definitely calculations going on there. In fact there were many reports Roberts was saying this was not the right way to go about Roe and having discussions with the other justices. I just think the other three completely miscalculated the reaction or just thought it was the right time to do it no matter what happened. Like I said Alito and Thomas are just goners automatically.

Even though I question if Trump will actually see punishment worthwhile, I don't think him running to the Supreme Court is going to work out how he hopes. Sure, they are conservative, but what he's fighting isn't a conservative vs non-conservative topic. This is about established law. If they come back and state the president can do whatever he wants...above the law...etc...then I think at that moment BIden should go NovaBrandon and have a hey day.

Your response is unfunny and insensitive, to say the least, and tendered to someone you should better get to know on a human level. Please take heed immediately, and walk your attitude back.
