My opinion, the Special Master play is only a delay tactic, the Judge is playing along for her own gain. They filed the claims way to late to really do any good. I think this is way to big and too clear cut for the DOJ to ignore, especially if reports are true as to the content of the docs. Trump isn't some master genius in this whole thing, he's very much fumbling his way through it with incompetent lawyers. it's a bad sign when your lawyers need to lawyer up. I'd say the shit will really hit the fan after the midterms as the DOJ is playing this super safe and is atm using kid gloves.
This is my opinion as well. The violations here are too severe for the DOJ to ignore and Biden clearly has no interest in covering for Trump. Trump judges may try to delay things but most of what they can delay won't prevent Trump's indictment from what I can tell.

That Trump appointed judge just sacrificed herself at the Alter of The Orange God of Idiocracy. She is being ridiculed and lambasted from every street corner and from most every prestigious pundit of political legalese for her ridiculously contrived interpretation of the Laws of the land in order to give Trump the ability to waste more of The People's time invested toward indicting his ass for those numerous laws he violated before, during and after his term in office.

I'd sure like to know how she had the gall to pull off that blatant act of shamelessly assisting Trump's efforts toward delaying the gov't's efforts at all fronts. She exposed how she is nothing more than another corrupted lackey in the GOP's stable of sacrificial lambs. Too bad there's not much that can be done toward jacking her ass off of that bench she lords over.
Next stop SCOTUS.

She didn't feel like a fool. She played her hand. She probably believes he's going to do good things for her when he's reelected. Silly woman, Trump doesn't do paybacks.
Maybe, but there is the risk Trumpism falters in a few years and this may weigh heavily on her reputation and career advancement. She would have to be pretty dumb not to take that into account.

I haven't been following this as it's empty posturing. The trial is all that matters.
Where have I seen this before? Oh, right. Just about every P&N thread you post in regarding GOP wrongdoing and fuckery.
As for the idea that "the trial is all that matters" - that's patently asinine nonsense. People can be guilty without being tried and convicted. People don't think OJ is some upstanding guy after the murder trial, or that Al Capone was an upstanding individual before he was finally nailed for tax evasion, etc.
C'mon now, it's his go-to! You'll have to forgive that he isn't smart enough to concoct new means to approve of shitty actions by members of 'his party'. He just feigns ignorance up until the last moments, as if not knowing makes it all fantasy and that nothing can be known until it has been decided in some branch of the court system.

It's pure fucking disingenuousness and deflection.

Wha?!!! Wut do you mean?! You mean people in this thread aren’t hating on this Republican politician because he did gay stuff?!! But I can’t fathom any other reason why people are being so mean!

Just a preview.... a small preview of what a Donald Trump second term would look like.
Think about THAT. You'd better think about THAT, and think hard.

Just imagine the corruption. Just imagine the fear. Just imagine no one available to expose the corruption. Just imagine no one to hold Trump accountable. Just imagine the courts, all the justices, the justice department itself, the FBI and the CIA all ran "ALL RAN" by people exactly like Judge Aileen Cannon.

Oh by the way, I was looking at those nuke launch codes discovered at MarALago. The launch codes are... 12, 15, 47, 67, 1, 2, 3. Just call the The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) phone number, hit # (pound), enter the codes, and up and away go the warheads. All 5550 of them.
Can you say KA-BOOM?
Thank you Donald. And dictators all over the globe thank you too.

living in a mostly red area, one thing that I've come to realize in recent years is that much of the right feel that those politicians can do no wrong. They will call out the left all day long, whether true or not, but as soon as you make claims about their people, suddenly it's all fake news, blah blah.

At least most of the left is fair enough to call out people on the left as well and expect justice when those people do wrong. Just doesn't seem to hold true for the right. Just another example of the lack of integrity.

I kinda think that Democrats shouldn’t embrace “the left” as a descriptor as they aren’t left at all. The USA has a center right party in the democrats, a hard right party in the Republicans, and the far right MAGATS.

She's already in a lifetime appointment that is only ~2 steps away from the highest position possible. She's playing with house money.
This opinion will get eviscerated by an appellate court. Once that happens she won't advance anywhere.

I've thought about this ... IF DoJ appeals (still not sure this even happens), it'll go to the 11th circuit. Very conservative. Very Trumpy. Courts have been in full on calvinball mode for a while now as well. Nothing is a guarantee anymore. Hell, everyone thought this was a slam dunk prior to this nutjob making up legal reason as she went.

And my original point was that she's already secure in what is almost the pinnacle of her profession. She won't be nominated for anything by a Democrat admin, and this only makes her more likable to the MAGA knuckle-draggers. She doesn't care if it gets overruled (unlikely IMHO).

But this is interesting here in Canada. Many just hate Trudeau. But they also won’t vote for Conservative party with last few leaders they had. Many say they vote Liberal party since most policies are center right already.

DoJ should most definitely not appeal this ruling. Barr said on Faux News yesterday that they should appeal since it is a bad precedent which needs to be overturned. While he's correct that it's a bad precedent, the delay caused by an appeal will be far, far longer than the delay caused by a special master. It is crucial that Trump be tried and convicted before 2024, so an appeal here is a non-starter.

Yeah, and the whole "bad precedent" argument kinda doesn't mean as much as it used to since we just throw out or completely misinterpret precedent anymore.

I've said this for a long time, conservatives are cool with crime as long as the perps look, act, and prescribe to the same political party as them.
FTFY ;)

If it's just a Hillary Clinton or Al Franken, all bets are off!

Normal things to take with you after you're fired.

My money is on documents on Iran.

Trump pretty much admitted it in a Truth Social post that slid under the radar for some reason. The major news networks most likely ignored it because the post also doxxed a State Department employee and advanced a conspiracy theory……”They’re just so mad because I took information on Iran”.

Also, I think Iran’s nuclear capabilities are of particular interest to the Saudis.
