It is mostly satire, as I obviously don't know the legality of the situation or if it is even possible for a President to land in jail.

What I DO think you and eskimo are not considering, and what I was alluding to with the body leading to the title and the tag, is that Trump cannot stop lying. He lies about everything. At this point I am not even sure he is capable of telling the truth about anything. So, it is safe to assume that under oath, he would commit perjury enough times to earn life sentences for a small army. What happened between him and Comey doesn't even matter. He will piss on the judge and tell him it's raining.

Of course, the reality of the situation is that he is lying about being willing to testify under oath. 100% lying. So it will never happen anyway.

OK, that clarifies it. I would add that if he perjures himself, which I'm sure he would do over and over again in a deposition, it has to be proven. That can be tricky at best.

Your last comment is exactly what my wife said to me just a few minutes ago, that Trump is saying he'll testify, but if he gets a subpoena, he'll fight it. You're both probably right.

This was my first thought. I know the whole "I took memos immediately" thing was to bypass hearsay limitations, but I almost feel like it was more of a "I took memos because I totally didn't have audio recorded. Nope, I super didn't record any audio. Why would I have written memos if I had audio?" It's the perfect setup. Trump would be an idiot to testify. Trump will testify.

That's why I think he agreed to it, for the show of it. His pea brain fantasized about both sides of the aisle glued to their TV's and trained on him. Possibly sported some miniscule chub. But fear and the smart people around him will win the day. If he can avoid it, he will. All the while saying he's 100% willing of course.

The thought had crossed my mind that Comey had him on tape for at least one of the meetings he listed. He admitted to having someone else from FBI/his staff on one of the phone calls. Makes sense. Would be funny as shit too. Yeah, I think I'm on board that Comey has him recorded.
 
If there are tapes I don't think they'll be coming out. I think it's pretty obvious who the lying idiot in the room is, and it ain't Comey. He's trying to keep people confused with his bizarre fixations and his apparent ignorance of things like being under oath and taking an oath - add those to the list I guess, shit.

Nor will he ever voluntarily go under oath.
He will need to be subpoena'd, and dragged kicking and screaming in.

Nor will Trump see one day of jail. President Pence will pardon him.
 
Trump said he'd testify in the same manner that he said he'd release his tax returns. He (and his lawyers) have no intention of doing so, but saying "I will do it" is an attempt to make him look better knowing it won't happen.

Already seeing Comey and Mueller and anyone else involved being called "corrupt" and "insane". This despite their longstanding reputations and respect given from both parties. Just because people make mistakes doesn't mean they are corrupt (which these people know very well). Calling Robert Mueller corrupt while holding up Donald Trump as a paragon of virtue...that's when you know things have jumped the shark. I don't identify with either party and would conceivably vote for either (or neither), but as long as the GOP and supporters continue in their current manner I'll be voting for their chief opponents. The GOP lost me during the Ken Starr days and have done nothing to call me back, quite the opposite actually.

Didn't Comey make scurrilous noises about a Clinton investigation a week or two just before the election? Didn't those noises have a great influence on the election, enough to perhaps to win it for Trump? Is it legal for a man in his position to influence an election based on absolutely nothing? My opinion of Comey is mixed at best.
