State Attorney General Orders Trump Foundation to Cease Raising Money in New York

The office of New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has issued a “notice of violation” to Donald J. Trump’s foundation, ordering it to immediately stop soliciting donations in New York.

The letter, which was sent on Friday and released on Monday morning by Mr. Schneiderman’s office, said that its charities bureau had determined that the Donald J. Trump Foundation had been fund-raising in New York this year when it was not registered to do so under state law.

“The Trump Foundation must immediately cease soliciting contributions or engaging in any other fund-raising activities in New York,” wrote James Sheehan, the chief of the charities bureau.

Mr. Trump’s foundation has come under increasing scrutiny amid questions about his fulfillment of large charitable pledges and his lack of financial support in recent years.

The foundation’s compliance with the rules that govern nonprofit groups has also been a concern. The New York Times reported last month that Mr. Trump’s foundation does not show up on the charity registers in many states and The Washington Post subsequently reported that the foundation did not have the certification necessary to solicit money in New York.

The AG hates "real" Americans like the Donald. The fix is in, and its so sad that such a loser could try to prevent the Donald from helping himself to other people's money to resolve his legal issues or buy art for his commercial properties. It's obvious that Trump is better at business than the AG so some loser has to attack him. Just another liberal loser.

I really really really can't wrap my mind around this man. He spent months attacking Clinton about her charity and somehow his charity isn't even legal? Wow.

As I've said in other threads, Trump is that guy who attacks others aggressively for things he knows are his own faults in the hopes no one will see they are his faults.

Conflicts of interest and shady business practices only exist for Clintons. Trump is 100% genuine and fighter for everyone!

That's because Trump's foundation is headquartered in NY and the stop order should effectively shut down donations everywhere, since, in effect, the donations would necessarily have to funnel into NY.

Is there no limit to evil bureaucratic red tape in this country? How do you expect the Donald to pay for all those fines, settlements, and six-foot portraits of himself? With HIS OWN money?

it gets worse for him, every year the foundation wasnt legal will have to be audited. if there are any other pam bondi type "irregularities" in the books, they will be coming out once the investigation gets underway.

That's just his ego preempting the inevitable loss. There's also a little dog whistle in there for good measure. Yesterday he urged his supporters after they vote to go to "certain areas. You know what I'm talking about" and keep an eye on them for voting irregularities.
