Didn't see a thread for this. Apparently the Trump Admin is seeking/considering proposals for a private Spy organization, developed by Blackwater founder Erik Prince, 'a retired CIA officer', and Oliver North (of Iran-Contra fame). This organisation would work outside traditional channels, and report directly to the US President and CIA director. Ostensibly, this is because the US Intelligence machine is too 'deep state' and unable to be trusted.

While not *quite* a reproduction of Nazi Germany's SS, it's too close for comfort for me, and frankly I find the notion of a 'new' spy agency reporting directly to the US President to be horrifying.
