Trump defends Pelosi, says she's 'not a racist'

Yeah hey wait a minute, nobody actually thinks Trump cares if Pelosi is a racist or not, right?

Trump is himself a huge racist. He likes racists. Now stupid would someone have to be to think that he was trying to defend her?

Easily fooled you are. Trump is an old fart that's been playing the same game his whole life. He thinks he can point at this down the road and show his base plus some others how lateral he is, which by his actions alone is easily negated.
I wasn't fooled, the words are right there. Trump said something positive about Pelosi. That you believe there is a hidden agenda in those words doesn't alter their meaning.
I see Trump as a classless loudmouth, you appear to see him as an evil genius.

I don't think it takes 'genius' to throw out a remark that has a subtext of increasing divisions among your enemies, or even simply drawing attention to them. He'd have to be a complete dullard not to see the opportunity to do that. It's very low-grade politics. Indeed 'taking the shot' could be seen as consistent with being a classless loudmouth, another politician might have decided it was too cheap and that it would be classier to pointedly not get involved...or perhaps to find a subtler way of achieving the same ends.

Also, maybe it's a sign that race is the single most important issue to Trump, insofar as any issue compares to that of self-aggrandizement for him (that one probably is the primary one).

Nothing is to cheap for Trump. No shot is to low or to petty.

While Pelosi is not a racist I’m not sure why we should care that a giant, lifelong racist said so.
Because race is the one thing that will splinter the Democrat coalition. There is a policy debate between centrist and progressive Democrats that AOC and Harris is making about race. This may solidy there standing within some circles, but its also Trump’s only path to survival...plus, the longer the Democrats factions fight, the more likely he survives impeachment.

You missed my point. Whatever might be true about that there’s no reason to care what Trump says. He likes racism.

Agreed.

I would say we shouldn't because we already know how he is, but we should be asking why is AOC throwing it out there as if she is? From 'our' perspective it screams of 'I'm not getting my way so I'll throw the race card' when the majority know it isn't at all true. Can we say, Trump-like mode of operation?

You’re playing his game.

You’re playing his game.

No, but I like her about as much as I like him. She isn't here to make the country better any more than he is and her statements and tweets show that plainly. Trump doesn't have to twist anything in regards to her. Quit trying to associate everyone's motives around Trump. Trump is just 'there'. Most of us non-conservatives ignore 90% of what the man says day to day.

sorry but diversity is a feature and one party has a far more serious problem with that. the Democratic Party still isn't as diverse as it should and will be, but the change is happening.

and your view on diversity is?

in regards to this thread, the Democratic party representation in DC is closer to the actual diversity of America than the GOP is.
Diversity goes beyond race and gender.

The most diverse organization I ever worked for consisted of mostly men but from a vast of array of backgrounds: urban to rural, immigrant to citizen, region of origin, religion, education level etc. People thought and behaved in different ways.

The least diverse team I ever worked for was racially and gender diverse, but the people were all products of the same top tier colleges, subject to group think.

Vague & highly convenient anecdotes are not data. The graphic posted above by Alien 42 is actually data.

White people come from different backgrounds and experiences too you know.

lol no, were all born in the same womb with the same background. We all shot native americans and we all enslaved Africans.

Also, Africans, DEFINITELY weren't sold by other Africans.

Also white people were definitely never immigrants.
