His numbers are likely good, by chance im sure, thing is 1% is not a small number.
Thats 35 million Americans, if 10% of those die, thats a staggering 3.5 million dead.
Compare that to Europe that mostly have the virus in a chokehold now, waiting for that damned vaccine...
And the oooonly reason he is willing to kill Americans is reelection. Well not the only reason there is the whole bounty program by Putin in Afghanistan that he endorses as well but that is another story.

Remember he not claiming 99% don't get it but 99% of people who do get it, it is harmless.
 
But it is not harmless to 99% of people who get it, that's more Trump bullshit. 3-5% of people who contract it are hospitalized. 60% are symptomatic. These are the most recent numbers I have read. If his position is 1 in 100 people die and it's no big deal.....

You go through your entire life, very, very rarely having a day in your life where you face a 1% chance of death.

You also have all the side effects of infection. Risk of permanent - and possibly serious - lung damage, temporary or possibly permanent nerve or brain damage (loss of taste and/or smell, and more) other inner organ damage including cardiovascular damage (arrhythmia, blood clots/stroke.) We seem to be discovering more nasty effects of covid all the time.

As we have all noticed Trump is more than willing to sacrifice his own loyalist supporters to the virus and its deadly effects and wadd'a ya know his supporters are more than willing to risk a horrific death or its lifelong debilitating consequences in order to keep him in office despite the compelling instinct to survive that nature gave them.

Ebola killed two people in the US. This is at like 120,000 and counting, not counting the thousands of excess “pneumonia” deaths that dumb fuck states like Georgia use to cook their books. What isn't talked about are the serious complications that many are facing after recovery. Yes, the fatality rate is low. But, that doesn't tell the full story.

You really don't get it, huh? Absent controls, the virus can readily overwhelm the hospital system. Mere truth. When that happens, needless deaths will obviously occur on a scale we couldn't even imagine 6 months ago. Trump DGAF. There are right wingers and life long Republicans who realize Trump is damaging the cause and want him to shut the fuck up. Some of them are in my family. I'm starting to see the backlash. This 99% statement was the last straw for my uncle and his wife.

Trump will tell them to blame Antifa or Obama. But the muttering will begin. People will start saying: - It wasn't Antifa that told me I didn't need to wear a mask. It wasn't Obama who told me to go to that rally. It wasn't China who promised me that the virus would just disappear on it's own and that 99% of the cases are "harmless". Trump’s been telling his followers for four years that whenever you have a problem, the first thing you need to do is find somebody you can blame for it. And that’s what they’ve been doing and some are still going to do.

We will eventually approach the point where many of Trump’s followers will stop listening to him telling them to blame the government and eventually, for them to start seeing HIM as the government. Trump’s brought it on himself. He’s created a movement of people that look for somebody to blame, that are told not to trust anyone, that are told the government is full of corruption, that are told that people who promise to help you are really going to betray you, and that conspiracies are all over the place. At some point, some in his movement will inevitably turn on him.

Trump’s problem is that his people are going to react to the deaths the same way he is; they’re going to look for somebody else they can blame for the problems they caused. With Trump himself, that means blaming Obama or Biden or the Democrats or Deep State or China or the testing. And Trump thinks his cult will follow his lead. But they’re more likely to follow his example. And that means blaming Trump for telling them to think stupid thoughts and do stupid things rather than blaming themselves for thinking those stupid thoughts and doing those stupid things.

Trump’s supporters have stood by and covered their eyes and ears at the mere mention of bad news. With statements like this. They will have a much harder time ignoring his incompetence. They can still yell “Fake News” if they want, but deep down inside, more and more of them now know that Trump is probably quite literally killing their communities.

It doesn't even matter from a practical POV. It's just a way for Trump to obfuscate. Current caseloads are swamping the system in places like Texas & Florida. It's also showing exponential increase in those places & others, doubling every two weeks or so. That's a ticket to disaster.
