I rarely participate in such matters as everyone is easily offended or whatever but i can only hope from the ashes of this khaos that just perhaps a new party arises. Why is it always Rep vs Dem? I vote for neither cause well i got views that are applied by both parties, yet i have my own ideas that honestly beg for their own party. Even if 60% are asymptomatic the mortality rate is still very bad. Lets look at the current numbers for the US from (https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6):
Confirmed Cases: 760,245
Total Deaths: 40,690
Death Rate: 40690/760245 * 100 = 5.35%

60% of Cases Asymptomatic: 760245/4 * 10 = 1,900,613
Total Deaths: 40690
Death Rate: 40690/1900613*100 = 2.14%

So currently the US is at a 5.35% death rate and the 60% asymptomatic (best case) death rate is currently 2.14%. This makes Covid 19 anywhere from 21 to 53 times more deadly than the flu. Which is still really really bad...

That is true if every person with any symptoms has been tested, which not even all the people being counted in the death figures were tested. But I agree, if the number is only 60% that have gotten it but not tested the numbers are still pretty bad. But 2.1% is about a year and a half of all cause mortality in the US, as opposed to 3.5 years at 5.35% so it is still a massive improvement.

In a couple weeks we'll see what the death and hospitalization rate from the ship is and it'll put the numbers into better perspective.

Saw a couple articles today that give hope that there is a massive under count, antibody testing in LA County showing 210K-440K people might have already been infected vs an official number of just below 8,000. In Boston a homeless shelter tested 397 people, 146 were infected only a couple with symptoms.

Right now I am going to file it mostly in the wishful thinking bin and assume the true death rate is somewhere between 1 and 3%, while hoping for significantly less.

That assumes, though, that all the symptomatic cases have been confirmed, i.e. it neglects all the cases that are neither asymptomatic nor confirmed.

The case fatality rate is probably a lot less than that 2.14%. But I presume we won't know what it is (was) till long after this is over, when maybe we can test loads of people for antibodies and work out how many people had it, and also look at the excess death rates and work out how many more people died than normally would.

I'm inclined to guess that the rate is about 1%. But given how contagious it is almost everyone will eventually get it, so that's a lot of deaths. But those are just wild guesses on my part.

Just looking at excess deaths will probably over tell the direct story. I was reading yesterday how many people are refusing to go to the hospital for symptoms of heart attacks and appendicitis, etc. So then when they do show up, they are in way worse condition than if they had gone early.

This is why I've thought from the beginning they should separate the hospitals as much as possible.

Gonna keep it real short, some people wanna own other people with legalized slavery hiring illegals so they can work for a quarter. My friend despises anyone who wants illegal immigration and coming from the most beautiful generation ever he has seen quite a bit changed. He longs for the days where people made some damn sense.

I mentioned it merely to show how angry politics can make people. The one comment at post #231 is wrong, typical politics to jump to a conclusion as usual. Its why besides my view on illegal immigration i pick no party. No party on this earth i believe to even still. I don't believe in legalized slavery with people working for a quarter so rich liberals who can't move their own ass and pick their own fruits in the fields can sit on their ass even a bit more and even conjure up some very stupid shit like abortion as well. I wish they would pick their own fruits cause honestly we may get less stupid ideas if someone kept them busy.

Fix their country perhaps with funding, make it a beautiful place to live again perhaps so less wanna come to this shit hole? Why do people feel the need to take advantage of these people? I think you're an ok person, but if you aren't willing to be open about what you believe is the right thing to do or express your opinions I am not really sure why you are here. This is a political forum and the heart of politics is conflict between people who hold differing views. Its messy, its ugly, and yes occasionally its nasty like people are.

Generally speaking the best way to get along here in this forum is to use facts and be able to provide sources for your claims.
