It kinda befuddles the longstanding arguments:

--the war was essentially "won" or "over" when the US arrived. The US just precipitated the denouement.
--the pandemic really ended the war.

Now it's sorta....OK, yes to the both, probably. But now what we know about statement one is actually, a bit more unnerving. Yes, the US helped to end the war much quicker, but by effectively tossing around their "smallpox blankets," again.

Also, there must be a deep sociological reason why the US went from making a big effort to be democratic, and reject a monarchy...to getting to a position where it is a point-of-principle to elect the stupidest individual available to become leader.

It seems a problem with a lot of medical tests - that they need to take into account the starting-point.

I mean, a person might have a physical trait, like resting-heart-rate or lung-capacity, say, that measures 'within normal range' but that doesn't take into account that they were super-fit before and have suddenly just become 'normal' because something has gone medically-wrong.

Conversely, how can they test for dementia, if someone was totally clueless to begin with?

Trump's ignorance isn't born of innately low IQ. It's a function of his narcissism. Of what use does someone entirely self-centered have for knowledge of the world? He has no attention span for anything that doesn't directly benefit him.

So far as dementia, he doesn't have it. He's experienced some cognitive decline with age.

All he had/has to do is say he misspoke and said WW2 instead of WW1. He will not do that because it means he was wrong.
