Newegg has the new Truepower II line for sale, but I can't find any reviews of the units. They look like nonmodular Neopowers, and the specs seem identical as well. Anybody know anything about these things?

Here there's a little info on the TruePower 2.0 line as well as some other upcoming Antec products.
Apart from that there aren't any reveiws out yet that I know of, but the TruePower 2.0 psu's are very similar to the Seasonic S12 series except cheaper and have more amps on the 12V rails.

I'll be waiting for a review to see how efficient they are though, 80% on the Seasonic will be hard to beat. :)

Fry's had the deal about 2 weeks ago, maybe because of the TP 2.0's release??? They may have another run soon like they did on the Sonatas (4 times at $59.99) Hopefully, the Neo deal will come again, I'll bite. This is a kickass PSU....

Those TP 2.0's look excellent Mr. Antec CSR. OT suggestion: If you made the Antec 3000b side duct moveable so that it can be centered directly over the CPU socket for various MB's, I think you'd have the perfect chassis on your hands. I am very impressed with the 3000b. The duct is slightly off center for my Abit IC7, but close enough where alot of air is pulled in when extended out. If the duct was moveable and extendable (like it already is), the cooling would be even more superb than it is now....

Don't those have dual +12v rails? I think there was alot of "debate" over whether or not a single +12v rail would be better for the Nforce4 boards.

Dual is fine as long as the the amps are adequate on both rails. The Antec 480 TP 2.0 has (18+18) which is a great amount of power. My Antec 480 NeoPower has (18+15), and the Fortron Blue 500 has (15+15) and it powers many DFI Ultra-D nF4's wonderfully.

The NeoPower I own works as follows:

12v1...18a....powers the main ATX, peripherals, floppy, SATA
12v2...15a....dedicated to the 4 pin ATX (which is the main CPU feed)

Motherboards that don't have a 4 pin ATX connector will leave you with a one rail PSU, that is the danger. But most high end boards these days have both. I would say that 18a on 2 rails is a very powerful psu. That Antec 480 TP2 looks awesome for $100. The TP2 series looks wonderful, if they are as good as the Neo, there won't be alot to worry about....

The article states:

"Alongside it is a new TruePower 2.0. The primary significant changes are a switch to 120mm bottom-feed intake fan "

That's nice but has Antec upped the efficency of the Neopower and other new PSU's to run higher than 60%-65% efficiency at 50% power draw ?

I had a Neopower but sold it as soon as I saw the 40% waste of power out the fan in the way of heat

All TP 2.0's have a mininmum 70% efficiency. The Neo has 60% at light load increasing above 70% at high loads. The efficiency of the Neo is a non-issue and has never bothered me personally, it delivers rock solid power 100% of the time.....

PSU efficiency is like a slow dripping faucet in your yard. No-one ever notices it but at the end of a month 50 gallons is wasted. Same holds true with the Neopower. It used 20watts more to power the same PC than a Seasonic I switched to.

Seems like a small amount, but in a month of running a system all day it adds up to a few bucks that I would rather have for me than give to my utility company.

Yes, it really depends on your computing habits. I generally only use my desktop when gaming, and in that mode the Neo runs at high efficiency. It remains shut off otherwise. For surfing and most everything else, I use my laptop, which really cuts down on the old power bill.

Also remember to look at efficiency in the 20 - 40% range because that is what you will be running most of the time, unless of course you have 10 drives and SLI'ed 6800 Ultras.

I can't imagine that these are going to be better than the Seasonic S12's. Probably not worse, at least not substantially, but definately not better.
