truecrypt question

I have a couple external HDDs that I encrypted with TwoFish-Serpent and obviously I enter the password for it every time I want to access the HDD. Is it in any way tied to this installation of TrueCrypt on my desktop? I mean can I format the desktop, install a new OS, and reinstall TrueCrypt and it will work just the same? Just wanted to be sure so I don't have to image my C: just for this reason.

As long as you used a password and no keyfiles you can safely reformat any internal drives. You'll just need to reinstall Truecrypt and provide the password when you mount the encrypted external HDD.
