More than 100 men replied to an advert on Craigslist offering work on a farm. Some of them were shot dead. The killers thought no one would miss their victims but, as Hanna Rosin reports, their story reveals a surprising truth about the emotional lives of men in a time of recession and family breakdown

This is some scary stuff, especially the parts about young Brogan ending up in the care of Richard Beasley (though Brogan ultimately shares some of the guilt).

As the article states, the murders were in 2011, though this complete story about them is only a few days old. Beasley wasn't convicted until April of this year.

Seconded. Definitely an interesting story. It's chilling how a guy like Beasely could sit down to breakfast with someone he was about to kill. A true sociopath.

Anyway, Beasley looks like a homicidal psycho.

What incredible luck that the guy's gun misfired the first time, otherwise Davis would have been hit from behind and definitely died. And good that Beasley in typical form was too damn fat to move, so he was unable to chase the guy down. Who knows how many others would have died.

Is surprising to me how inept so many criminals are, but maybe that's why they resort to criminality anyway.
