Am I suppsoed to be offended or argue or something?

 Why should you be offended? Your girfriends parents should maybe be offended. I suspect stupidity is hereditary to a degree though... so I'd keep an eye on the girlfriend

No, he was damn smart to stay away from that train wreck! If these two bozos weren't smart to read the little Walmart product discription card on the computer before buying it, what makes you think they would be smart enough to properly use maintain their computer?

Hell, even if they bought a system with Windows on it, I'd bet that they'll have the thing screwed up with viruses spam and spyware in a matter of weeks, simply because they'll click on every pop-up window and attachment they get without thinking first. Do you really want to be doing tech support on something like that?

Hmm . . . i'd imagine even the "average consumer" would look at the features and spec's of a computer before dishing out the $. <even if it's only $200 . . . or rather- ESPECIALLY because it's only $200>

You must have missed it a few years back when the original iMacs were selling like hotcakes. They sold because of how they looked, not because of their features or specs. They were pretty and blue and round, and a lot of people liked that enough to buy one.
I heard that some suckers actually pay money to put neon colored lights and "windows" in their computers!

Dude, don't you know? That's what makes you a power user!

Aren't you the same guy who tried to compare case mods to rice?

Yeah, probably. It might not have any available pci slots though. Definitely no agp.

And you may not want to ass the videocard, that sounds painful. ;)

I don't know FallenHero very well, so it's entirely possible he's a moron, but based solely on his last post, I'd have to say that he's not.

Rice: Adding a bunch of cosmetic junk to your car (or computer) for the purpose of making it look "cool", without improving performance, but instead causing it to be noisy, glow, and usually be visually obnoxious.

They could use word documents with Lindows for free, and instead of AOL they could get a real ISP and save money so they wouldn't be so poor.

Ricer: A slow car, usually a family econobox like a Civic, made to look fast and powerful when it is now. However, a P4 3.2 800 is powerful, therefore, it is ok to casemod and show off the awesome specs.

But it still looks like Rice. Modding to anything should be done tastefully.

Consider this, there are people just like them, that are (somehow) on the opposite end of the wealth spectrum (lottery?) who hand 6 or 7 thousand dollars to Alienware, and have no idea what they're getting. Which is a worse idea?

Yeah, maybe a case crammed with 24 cathodes. That's just ugly. But good casemodding = 1337.
