True Liberal Elitism or better known by the term "Snob"

Texmaster

Banned
This has got the be the Finest Example I've seen which supports the conclusion that Liberals are the Elitest Snobbish Pigs that many Republicans have portrayed them being.

Take this artile in the Washington Post written by Dana Milbank.

Pity the American president, a Texan who likes hamburgers and barbecue, when he is served a meal of "Symphony Gaspesienne" and "Pommes de terre dauphinoise."

Pity the American? LOL I guess ordinary food is just too lower class for some people LOL

The president's table manners were critiqued in a front-page column in Quebec's daily Le Soleil. "When heads of state and governments sat down in the ballroom of the residence, a cool bottle of water and a crystal glass waited for them," it reported. "George Bush unscrewed the top and started to drink from the bottle. 'Vulgar,' thought the South American presidents."

Here she quotes a Canadian paper taking pot shots at Bush once again in a Snobbish Elitest Etiquette lesson for the Super Snobs of the world LOL

The same article took Laura Bush to task, for wearing "too tight dresses that static electricity causes to get between her . . . legs."

LOL Right. Laura Bush, a former public school Librarian is pulling for some sort of Sexual Flirting in her choice of Clothing.

Man are these Liberals are Snobs.

Bush watchers were amused when he called the French-speaking Chretien "amigo," and when he tried to engage the nonplused Canadian in a discussion of baseball.

WHAT? Baseball? A commonor's sport? How DARE He! LOL

This is the PERFECT example that Liberalism comes from the Blue Blood Elite who frown upon any people who like ordinary food, sports and more informal souroudnings.

Their Snobbish attitude just shines through 🙂

And Liberals claim to be speaking for the working class....

LOL Right.

I will say that I'm no fan of Bush, but that article smells like offal.

I never thought Bush was the common type, but if he is, more power to him. There is, IMHO, still a political elite, and anything Bush can do to distance himself from it is a Good Thing.

What about the elitistism espoused by religious social conservatives? Turning up your nose at questionable etiquette isn't nearly as bad as condemning ordinary people to an alleged after-life of pain, suffering and eternal misery.

I'm with you 100%, Tex. I find it amusing how they laugh at our "commoner, little-man" President...I guess they are forgetting that whomever is the President of the USA happens to also be the most powerful man in the entire world? Duh.

Personally, I like the fact that he's not a pinky-raising snob. People need to understand that there is a BIG difference b/t "not particularly polished" and "uncouth slob." A big difference.

Perhaps you should have said:
"This has got the be the Finest Example I've seen which supports the conclusion that DANA MILBANK is the Elitest Snobbish Pig that many Republicans have portrayed her as being.

Tasty barbequed flamebait.

Next, please.

Generalizing all liberals as snobbish pigs and whatnot from this then you could also judge all conservatives as dumb religous fantatic trailertrash from oh so many examples.

is there anyone more obsessed with "liberals" then texmaster? like a modern day mcarthy seeing communists everywhere😛 what a fool.

So you are saying that because one liberal is a moron, all liberals are "Elitest Snobbish Pigs" ?
Your logic is nonexistent. Please learn to use basic reasoning skills before posting again.

Ah nothing like changing the subject when you can't debate the original arguement huh 😀

The subject is political philosophies not special interest groups 🙂

Are you saying that this ISN'T Liberal Elisitsm? LOL She quotes other Liberal sources besides herself you know 🙂

I'm talking about the Political Philisophy Differences.

Liberals truely believe they are "socailly superior" and "enlightened".

That is not a generalization. It is backed up in this article and by COUNTLESS Liberal posters here. Especially in Europe.

The subject is a mindless generalization of an entire group of people based on ONE person's political philosophies. Two if we count yours. There's nothing to debate. It's flamebait.

If you want to debate something, maybe you would backup your BS with a non-editorial source.

methinks texmaster is a closet liberal who espouses "conservative" rhetoric in order to hide his inherent liberalness. if there's anything i've learned from reading 1984 or watching american beauty is that the ones who seem the most opposed to something are the real hypocrites.

Hey Nef, glad you could make it 😀

Always nice to see Nef aviod the debate like a child 🙂

Let's not generalize, but whaddya expect from the Post? They're traumatized.

I recall an old "Barney Miller" episode (apologies to those who never saw it) set in early 1977. The detectives needed to call in a federal agent, and a very newly appointed fed comes in. The fed apologizes for being new to the job, and speaks with a very pronounced Southern accent. Barney mentions that he understands as he recognized the accent. The fed looks at Barney and says "we don't have accents anymore. You do." 😀

Methinks that Tex a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

Anyways, remember that stupid as it may seem, knowledge and awareness of cultural and social norms ARE noticed when dealing on the world stage. People think of Bush as a bit lacking in this sort of stuff, because quite frankly, he is.

Hey, I like a steak as much as the next guy (having grown up in Saskatchewan), but it still irritates me when a guy from Saskatchewan comes to Toronto and complains when he doesn't find sweet and sour chicken balls and chop suey at the local Chinese restaurant. A friend's dad packed his suitcase full of food for his vacation in Mexico, because he didn't want to "eat tacos and burritos all day". Am I an elitest snob for thinking he's an idiot? Perhaps, but he's still an idiot. I'm not saying that Bush is like this at all, because to give him credit, Bush is trying very hard to learn and seems to be learning quickly. Nonetheless, it's still pretty distressing to hear Bush call Pakistanis "Packies" and stuff like that.

The Le Soleil comments are obnoxious though, but from what I'm told, that's not always unexpected from them. Not representative of the general media.

As for Chretien he's not a baseball guy - more of a hockey guy, etc. 😉 I do think that Chretien doesn't think too much of Bush much though. One thing that sticks out in my mind is when Chretien was dealing with Bush on oil issues. Bush claims to be an oil man from Texas, but somehow didn't know that Alberta (one of Texas's closest Canadian friends by the way) has one of the biggest oil reserves in the world. Much of it is very difficult and expensive to extract being in tar sands, but it's something one would expect a Texas oil guru to know about. It's not that Chretien has a problem with Bush's common man approach. Remember, that Chretien himself is often said not to be able to speak either of Canada's national languages properly. I think it's more that Chretien just doesn't like Bush much in general.

<< Are you saying that this ISN'T Liberal Elisitsm? LOL She quotes other Liberal sources besides herself you know >>

She's an example of Liberal Elitism but that doesn't mean all Liberals are Elite just like all Republicans aren't Red Assed Frustrated little Men who base their Manhood on their Computer like you do Tex.

Actually I think that's an example of Upper Class Snobbishness.

<< methinks texmaster is a closet liberal who espouses "conservative" rhetoric in order to hide his inherent liberalness. >>

Show me one post where I said I was "better" than anyone here.

Just one. Back up your BS.

This is a debate and people in a debate differ. Try reading about that. You obviosuly missed it the first go around 🙂

Same goes for the most extreme conseravtices, they belive they are so right and liberals are just dumb stupid people and thats why conservatives should rule everything. And that is backed up by posts made by you and some other memebers of this board along with COUNTLESS of live political examples.

We don't live in a monarchy or an empire. So excuse the President if he doesn't have blue blood in his veins. American Presidents are normal citizens chosen to lead the country, not for the their table manners.
