A few notes about what I think could be modified:

1. PS3 doesn't really need charging stations for controllers.

it does when you have 4 controllers, because the models selling now only got 2 USB ports. For Wii and Xbox you can buy AA and charge them outside to save a tiny bit of money.

However, the 360 and PS3 can be had for great bargain now. A usable 360 (as long as it's got memory it is usable to me) is 150, 200ish if you buy non refurb or want a HD, a PS3 is about 250 when deals available.

Wii I had never notice any sale. Even used games are expensive(well on the other hand the new games are cheap so that kinda offsets the cost).

or you can charge your PS3 controllers in a PC or Xbox360.

Regardless of the "cost" of the consoles, we've probably all spent more on the games than on the consoles.

1. PS3 doesn't really need charging stations for controllers.
2. The average consumer likely won't know what the motion plus is, and likely won't pick it up unless a game requires it.
3. WiFi for the 360 is mentioned at the end, though I don't see why they'll try to compare the features and costs as much as possible without adding it in to the total numbers.
4. If we were talking long-term, you'd have to keep adding the cost of Live on yearly (which would add up).
5. It's too bad HD-DVD is dead, otherwise you'd have another thing to add on to the 360's cost if you REALLY wanted to match it up with the PS3. There's no real way to factor that in with this, really (the PS3 having Blu-Ray, that is).

Overall, though, this is the same idea I've had for a while and used when people complained about the PS3's cost. They're pretty similar. One console sucks your wallet dry in itself while the others do that via accessories and other extra fees.

1) Xbox 360 doesn't either, you can use the play and charge cable.
2) If any games REQUIRE it, I'm okay with them adding it.
3) True, however WiFi isn't something NEEDED for gaming, it may make it easier for you to connect to the internet, but you can still play games without it.
4) Yes but really you can lower the yearly price... I always get my memberships for between $20 and $30.
5) True again, however HD DVD isn't needed for gaming and they seem to be sticking to the GAME console side even though that is extra value.

Also the Xbox 360 would be much more expensive to own because you can't forget all the good software that keeps compelling you to buy 😉

For the record I own both PS3 and Xbox360, however the PS3 pretty much just collects dust and plays BluRay movies that I'm too poor to buy.

I'd rather use that 129$ to buy two more games 😛

edited for more anti-social behavior

Gaming is NON-social behavior,, NOT anti-social. People should really look these things up. Colloquial probably accounts for billions of dollars worth of communication problems that spider into all industries.

I'm pretty sure you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not even going to pretend to understand what you're saying.

This is ridiculous. 4 motion pluses for the wii, but lets not include the cost of the TV?
Useless. Utterly and completely useless.

You still have to buy the plug and charge cable or battery combo pack :frown:

the wifi made my 360 seem like a ripoff, and really put things in direct perspective as this system is costing me more money than my PS3

I have more games for my 360, but haven't gone online for over 2 months as I've been playing my PS3, so every day that goes by I feel guilty like I'm wasting money. Yeah, so I've got the opposite situation than yours.

I don't mind though because I get to... Play AND Charge. With the 1 foot USB cable for the PS3 it really is more of Play OR Charge (sure you can get a long USB cable but now were back to buying stuff).

I've never had a need for wifi on my 360, but if I did I'd most likely be cheap and make a bridge out of an old router or something, but like I said it's not a big deal to me so I kinda ignore that.

I'd probably play more of my PS3 if I had friends that had PS3s, but my friends all do Xbox so I end up on there a lot more (plus XBL is awesome).

Don't forget to include $99 for a PS2 in the PS3's cost, since it no longer has any PS2 backward compatibility. 😛

It's pointless to try to come up with a feature-for-feature comparable package of both systems, because everyone has different needs. Some people don't need wifi, some people don't care about online play, some people don't care about backward compatibility, some people only need two controllers, some people want a headset for communicating online, and some don't. Some want a wireless headset, some don't care. Some would rather use inexpensive AA NiMh rechargeable batteries instead of a single-purpose battery that costs several times more and contains AA NiMh rechargeable cells. Some people want to use their console as an MP3 jukebox, some don't. Some people want a large hard drive, some don't.

Anyone who is trying to decide between two consoles needs to do their own price comparison with the features they want. Then they need to throw that price comparison in the trash, because spending less money on a console isn't going to make it more enjoyable. Controller design, online play features, and game selection are the features that I'll care most about when picking which console to buy next generation. I'm sure the prices will be close enough that it's a non-issue.

I for one have a $20 charging station for my PS3 and I don't know how you guys can live without one. I absolutely hate having to dig out a USB cable every other day or so, and I don't have spares so yeah its like 2-3 ft. long and it just sits on top of the TV console looking like a mess.

With the $20 investment from Target it takes all the hassle and untidiness out of charging the controllers, it almost makes the sleek energizer stand look like part of the decor instead of the childish messes y'all have 😉

It'd be nice if it was just possible to charge from the console when the console is turned off.
