I have been looking at a new LCD screen. I will concede that the 24" screens are amazing, but they are also very expensive and require some serious video card power. The 20" has the same resolution as the 22" so I would rather stay with the 20", but due to the recent panel lottery at Dell I was wondering if there are any good truly 8 bit 20" panels on the market for around $300. I know about the NEC for $399 after a $100 rebate but that is still a little expensive especially if the rebate doesn't come through. (which is what normally happens for me) The use will be for general computer use and gaming.

If you can find an Acer AL2051W that would be the panel to get. Newegg isn't listing them anymore

I read in the LCD post that they have (reported) lots of input lag though?

Edit- the only Acer monitors I found were refurbs. :(

Nope, I got in on it when it was $200... It's an amazing monitor. Then again, I was coming from an 8 year old Philips 18" LCD, with something like a 50ms reponse time... but still.

If you can find a ViewSonic VX2025wm, it's a great display. Unfortunately, they aren't being manufactured anymore, so they might be difficult to come by. I've been using one for well over a year and have been very pleased with it.

Nope, no input lag to report here. I use it for multiple game types from FPS to RTS as well as streaming the occasional movie or TV show from my HTPC.
