Do trucks really hold their values much better than cars? In 1996 I purchased my first vehicle, a brand new 1996 Mazda pickup for $8888. That was a advertised special and I had to wait a few days to get it. I sold the vehicle to a dealership in 1999 for $8300. The truck had 0 options. I had a cassette deck installed but it had nothing, not even power steering and no air conditioning either and was a 5 speed. The truck had 31K miles on it. I have read that there is supposed to be a big depreciation on new vehicles but a truck losing only 7% of its value in 3 years and 31k miles later? Are all trucks like this?
