Seriously what is the point...the pandemic is almost over and 90% of Truckers are vaccinated.

I'm personally against anything that blocks the public roadways...just move your damn truck already!!!
 
I find it interesting how this flares up while Russia prepares for the invasion of Ukraine. Even if there is no intentional connection, it still works to undermine our ability to exert power/influence.

This "Protest" is effectively an Occupation including a few Sieges for extra effect. Given the outlandish demands, it is also effectively an Insurrection. Trudeau is trying to nuance through this to avoid permanent rifts, offering the "Truckers" an Out, but they seem deadset against that.

At this point I am thinking the Military is being readied and I am not upset if it gets used.

I agree with OP although don't understand the whole thing. This is hurting people who work for the auto manufacturers because of key border crossings AFAIK.
 
I don't think it has anything to do with the vaccines themselves but the mandates from the government that they have a problem with. Like where you have to wear a mask or when you must get a shot you don't believe in or you get fired or if the schools must be closed when children are at a 0.001% chance of dying from Covid or forcing babies to get the shots.

I support them, but I do have mixed feelings about blocking traffic. That just pisses off people and the longer it goes on the less support they'll have. At this point I think they need to leave and just threaten to come back later. They already accomplished a lot.

It has lit a fire under the ass of all levels of government and lot of them are at very least planing to lift some mandates. It's a start.

MSM media is trash as far as the convoy coverage goes. CBC said they were protesting against bad roads in BC, then later said it was started by Russia. It's a joke.

These polls are also garbage, on both sides and do not represent all Canadians. They tend to target a very specific audience. I can guarantee I post that poll on my own Twitter and it will be close to 100%. But that does not represent all Canadians either because everyone that follows me supports the convoy. It goes both ways. Most of the time small polls like this that only run for a day or two are going to be useless.

There are still a lot of pro mandate people out there unfortunately though, but some will hopefully eventually wake up. A lot of pro mandate people are miserable people that just love to see government overreach and like to see people suffer if they don't follow their same exact views. Karens basically. Those are the same type that love HOAs and love telling people how to live. That way of thinking is unfortunately rampant, but does not really make it a good thing. People fighting against freedom are not exactly the good guys.

Is it not easier for the pollsters to draw from a pool living in the major provincial metros than heading way out to small town Canada, and thus sampling be affected that way?

You make so many stupid statements in a post it's mind boggling. The polls are false because you say so with zero proof, just your feels. Like a lot of the misinformation you posted in the Covid thread.

People who support vaccine mandates are HOA supporting Karen's? You just create these things in your mind that have no basis in reality. Because people who support overwhelmingly scientifically backed public health causes also think people should only paint their houses a certain color. Like the two things are remotely related. Only to person trying to make sense of their own warped reality.

You have lost the plot.

Honestly it's the freedom loving conservatives that want to impose the most restrictions on living. Whether it's from their religious background, punishing or looking down on human sexuality or people being gay, a woman's right to choose, recreational drug use, freedom to teach history, banning books. They want to limit or punish those choices. They want to control all those things drastically, and many more.

Freedom loving conservatives are generally the worst and most hypocritical people in any given society

My daughter attended SBISD here in Houston where masks were optional the last couple of years and no teacher, administrator or janitor died because of infection due to Covid. None of the kids wore masks and they were always in person classes, no online. Only a handful even had it. I can only speak from our experience here. Your area may of been different/worse.
 
The truckers are being big fucking babies. Part of living in a society is taking steps to protect society as a whole (ie, getting vaccinated against deadly illnesses). You can't just go through life being "me me me." I think most people understand this; however, some people are thick headed nincompoops and thus require a mandate to get them to do the right thing.

It's not like nearly 1,000,000 Americans have died from covid over the last 2 years or anything like that, and that the majority of those clogging hospitals and dying are those refusing to take an extremely safe vaccine.

Stop spouting hogwash, I have been vaccinated twice and boosted and still got the Omicron. Masks won't stop it and neither do vaccines. I know people who have gotten it 3 times after full vaccination. People who are fully vaccinated can still spread it. Read the science and stop the spread of misinformation.

I fully support the truckers and their fight and hope that they will come to all of the major cities in America to protest. It's all about control now, not Covid.
 
Lot of people have been way too dramatic about the whole covid stuff. They need to stop listening to the propaganda machine. Covid itself is over, it's just the narrative that is not. The vaccine does help prevent severe illness and that should be considered good enough. We're never going to get to covid zero, even if we get 100% vaccination rate.

Just to be clear, nearly every media monkey occupying a seat is a little POS propagandist. Only exception of respect I make is for investigative journalists like Ronan Farrow or Lowell Bergman.

COVID is not over, but it is true that with Omicron, the those who were doomed to die have been struck more than thoroughly and thus the remaining ones are those who through natural fortune or accepting a dose or two of vaccine, have shown they can handle the virus. Elder people will always be threatened, but "the system" will always be inherently ageist and against "parasites" because of the money they take from government(and the planet for the environmental Malthusian), so the powers that be do not give a fuck or even secretly smiling at the old and less able having dropped dead.

It is still a morbidity threat.

The governments however, did want to have its cake and eat it too. Vaccination did come wishful thinking that it alone could dispose of testing individuals and the costs that come with it, along with "releasing the shackles" upon obtaining vaccinations even though this family of virus is well known for being a step ahead. And little attention is paid to the matters of equitable distribution in places still lagging in vaccination.

Pretty bold statement covering the 40,000 students and employees of SBISD. Do you have a citation for your claim? Of course you also missed that spreading at school affects more than people who are at that school - you know there are still all those relatives, friends, etc that are at risk too. Even if your intent was meant to indicate just your school, that sample size is so ludicrously small that is has no place related to your earlier generalized comment. Also their dashboard shows most SBISD schools have more than a 'handful' of people with COVID right this very second - around a month after the wave crested in Houston in mid-Jan. I am highly suspicious of your claim and my suspicions are informed from data provided by your district and the city of Houston. Where does your 'handful' number come from?

One good thing though is that there is no scientific evidence that catching COVID will cause them any kind of long term issues at all. Nope nothing to see here.

Unvaccinated are more likely to get COVID and have always been the ones clogging up the hospitals regardless of Delta vs Omicron.

Yup, way too dramatic about 800,000 American deaths and how many more world-wide? They should focus on more important issues like Mrs. Potato Head and Green M&M shoes and Dr. Seuss. They should back the important mandates like mandating kids don't read any books that contradict their attempted white-washing of history.

What evidence do you have that the proposals to lift some mandates are a direct result of this temper-tantrum and not a result of Omicron burning out?
 
Just a few weeks ago when jackwagons were saying Covid was over, people were still dying because they couldn't get into the right hospital here in the States

Conservatives like squirrel and the truckers don't care about things like that if they can't see them or if they don't happen to themselves

It's just sad.
