Truck (SUV/P-up) tire question

Good morning ATOT. 🙂

I have a question concerning tires for SUVs or pickup trucks.

The tires on my truck are size P245 70R16. Radials, 245mm wide, sidewall is 70% as high as tire is wide, fits 16-inch rim. OK, I got that.

What confuses me are those "LT" tires. As in LT245 70R16. I know that "LT" means "light truck" but what is the diff b/t a LT tire and a P tire? I'm new to all this truck tire business, so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks.

Thanks, Sluggo. But is an LT a radial tire? I do lots of highway driving and don't like bias ply tires....thanks.

Laust Rocks!!! Thanks man. I am now an educated individual. 🙂

EDIT
They have a category called "Light Truck Floatation" WTH? I gotta get me some of those floatation tires! 😀

Bias ply tires are very rare so don' t worry about that. Bia ply tires usually have different way of specifying the size too.

edit: sounds like you need some 44's. 😉 Just get a suspension and body lift, then hog out the fender openings. Like this: scroll down to near the bottom 😀

those look like possible daily drivers right? 😀

Hey PG, that is an awesome page you linked me to! Thanks, man! I love cool pics of jacked-up 4x4's. I've been searching (in vain, I might add) for some pages w/pics of Japanese trucks (Troopers/Rodeos/Land Cruisers/Pathfinders/4Runners/etc) that have been jacked-up and/or modified...but haven't found squat. I'd like to go "a little crazy" w/my Trooper, but still retain streetability and drivability. *sigh* someday....😉
