Looks like a really good movie, but I can't help but thinking it's going to be either really good, or really bad, what do you think?

Since it looks really good in the trailers, it's probably going to be a royal piece of crap.

Actually, I wasn't too impressed.

When I saw Orlando Bloom dressed up in what hollywood thinks ancient greek armor looked like, I burst out laughing.

Then everyone in the theater looked at me, and I did my best to stop.

It does not look to be a good film.

If it gets good reviews, I'll go see it, but I'm definatly not hanging on the edge of my seat for this one.

We're going to see it,heck even if it isn't terrific what are we talking about? an investment of $20?

I'm looking forward to seeing Van Helsing this weekend myself🙂

I really want to take the wife and 13yo son to see it, but can't find a sitter for the baby. Some crap about "Mother's Day". 🙁

i agree but i think it is going to be really good cuz they aren't going all out with advertising and promoting it, normally when the do that it ends up sucking (ie. part 2 and 3 of te matrix)

First off, I'm a big fan of Homer's The Iliad and Hector is one of my favorite fictional character. I believe there is absolutely no way in hell that Hollywood could/would do a faithful adaption. Simply put, there are way too many characters, both divine and human and the story is too damn long for a 2 or 3 hour movie. Because of that I don't expect too much of it or else I'll be setting myself up for disappointment.

BTW in the book, Paris (aka Alexander) is a vain, cowardly character who won Helen only through the influence of Aphrodite (not love). The fact that Orlando Bloom is cast as Paris pretty much tells me that his character is not a faithful representation of the book.

I'll go see the movie next Tuesday (pre screening) and hope that it will be a decent flick comparable to Gladiator.

I don't think it'll be great but I'd say it will be worth the $6 ticket. As for Van Helsing, I think that it's going to suck most royally.

Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom? Sounds like a Chick movie to me.

Yes for bloom, but no longer for Pitt. I used to think of him as one of those pretty boys, but come on. Fight club? Snatch? He's done a lot of films that shows he's a good actor.
