Troubleshooting WEP

I have an SMC Wirless Barricade (SMC7004AWBR) and a 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless LAN Card (3CRSHPW196). It works perfectly when WEP is disabled, but I am having trouble when WEP is enabled. I am using 128-bit encryption with a 13 character passphrase. The LAN card can connect to the wireless router, but it does not get assigned an IP address. Yes, DHCP is enabled and works fine without WEP turned on. I am unsure of what to try next. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I see this with my older Aironet cards to my new Enterasys WAP.
I believe it to be an issue with how they vendors are transmitting WEP or autheticating.
Some work some dont work so well...
