Troubleshooting Thinking Caps Please!

Long Story short, I bought this MoBo, which came with a 1.4GHz P4 and a HSF, and this RAM.

The combination does not post. I tried sending a message to the seller of the MoBo, but haven't heard back. I'm kinda suspecting that the processor is bad, since it came "free" with the MoBo, but I want to know for sure.

I don't have any other RAMBUS RAM, Socket 423 CPUs, MoBos that take RAMBUS, or Socket 423 MoBos.

The fan turns on, and I have tried 2 different power supplies. So what do you reckon I should do next?

Are all the ram slots occupied? You need to make sure that it's in the correct slots, RDRAM has to be installed in pairs, and the empty ram slots have to be filled with CRIMMS, which are used to just complete the connection. Look at section 3.4 of the manual, which you can find here. It will show you which slots to put the memory in, and which slots to put the CRIMMS in. If there were no CRIMMS included, you can find them really cheap, either on e-bay, or look on pricewatch.com. They may even still sell them on Newegg.com.

Thanks for pointing that out to a dumb NooB. I realized that RAMBUS had to be installed in pairs, but I thought as long as....

well suffuce it to say I need to buy some CRIMMS

Thanks so much for the offer, but as soon as I posted that I went on eBay and bid on a pair of CRIMMs and won before I saw your post.

Thanks again
