troubleshooting DNS problem

I am troubleshooting my DSL DNS.
I can reach some sites, but not others.

Can someone ping microsoft.com or msn.com for me?

Is the sites up or down?
Are these even the correct IP addresses?

Are you serious? Microsoft doesn't allow pings to their site so you'd need to test yahoo or something.

Pinging those addresses, msn.com and www.microsoft.com.nsatc.net, both timed out for me as well (bellsouth account).

For www. microsoft.com.nsatc.net, I got the following IP address, 207.46.199.120.

ok, but can you get to microsoft.com with a web browser?

i'm pretty sure all major sites block pings... but yes, those sites are still up - and i am unable to ping them as well.


you can try doing a tracert i suppose.


might i suggest redirecting this to the networking forum?
