Troubleshooting Brother HL-2400C Laser Printer

I have a Brother HL-2400C Laser Printer. It had ran out of toner and sat for 6 months. My friend that I bought it off of bought new toner for it and used it for a little, then I bought it from him. Its sat for an additional 6 months (at least). I go to fire it up yesterday and it prints like its out of black toner. (The reason I'm posting here is because I haven't been able to get ahold of my buddy to ask him if he replaced all of the cartridges, or just the color ones, or what...).

Now, I'm not all that familiar with laser printers. I know they have fuser oil, a fuser, toner cartridges (four in this case) and a used toner bottle among other things which need to be replaced periodically.

Now, here's the kicker. The printout gets better to a point. When it first printed out, there was hardly anything. Then it got progressively better. It still does not print out fully, the text is wispy. There aren't missing lines, or swatches without toner, the letters aren't "filled in" all the way. Not blank, just gray and mottled.

Also, I looked at the fuser oil container and it seemed pretty low (but I have no point of reference really). There are no trouble messages on the display either.

Thanks to all who help!

Edit: Fuser Oil/Cleaner The bottle is virtually empty, though some oil dripped on my hand from the bottom of the container when I pulled it out.

Also, its most likely NOT the belt (whatever that is specifically used for...anyone care to enlighten me?) as its life span is well beyond whats actually been run on this printer.

Edit 2:

OPC Belt ~ $230
Black Toner Cartridge ~ $110
Fuser Oil and Cleaner~ $70
Cleaner ~ $40
Waste Toner ~ $15

What's the difference b/n the Cleaner and the Fuser Oil and Cleaner? and what's the OPC belt for? (and both cleaners while your at it? 🙂)

Anyone have any comments?
If I shell out the cash for a toner cartridge besides the fuser oil, does it have a shelf-life when sealed?

Actually, no, heh...but, these cartridges may not work exactly that way. But, I'll certainly check it out. I think I'm going to order fuser oil, as its apparent, it will need it soon even if that's NOT the problem. Then, I'll check out the toner. Anyone have any comments on toner shelf-life in a sealed bag?
