What's VKD? is that video drivers? it is onboard video, so it could have gone bad. It's not that hard drive, as far as I can tell though, because I have tried it successfully in 2 other systems.

There isn't really any way to tell what it is unless someone has experience with that specific component. I did a quick search for vkd on my system and found nothing. So, I would guess vkd is the manufacturer's nomenclature or the manufacturer itself.

try to underclock your CPU. (lower than 300Mhz).
If it boots successfully, go to microsoft site to dl win98 AMD patch.
then return it to the original speed.
easier way: install win98SE instead of original win98 😛
